Loved Coffee Prince and Master’s Sun.... two of my favorite Kdramas of all time. Now, I just started watching The Lover (that’s how I found your article). It is very different from other Kdramas but I find it very interesting so far. Hopefully, I will also like it until the end. Thanks for your article.
I really Liked This Drama. Its my all time Favorite.
Like you, this is my no. 1 favorite drama... and I have seen a little more than you in about the same time (Goblin was actually my first ever kdrama and Insaw it in Dec 2017). So yes, I agree with you that everyone has to give this drama a try, and not just drop it after a few episodes. ????
I miss this drama so so much. I miss gong yoo. Its been two years since I watched it and its still close to my…
Me too! I miss This drama and Gong Yoo as well.
I watched it in Dec 2017, and I still rewatch it (sometimes the whole thing, sometimes skipping through to see my favorite parts)... but always laughing and crying at the same scenes! It was my first ever kdrama and will always be no. 1 in my heart!
I don't know why everyone kept saying it's a sad ending. It's not. It's happy for both couples. It's a decently…
Totally agree with you that it IS a happy ending... but when I first watched it, I found the ending bittersweet. Yes, they found each other again during Eun Tak’s second life, but she will die again and live 2 more lives until she will not come back anymore... while our handsome, lonely Goblin will still live on forever and ever...
But now, I am hoping and dreaming that after Eun Tak’s 4th life, the Almighty will take pity on Kim Shin and let him ascend heaven already with Eun Tak, the way he allowed Grim reaper and Sunny to go together too. ????
Just completed. There is one point I doesn't understand: When the bride draw the sword out of the goblin's body…
When he first vanished from his current life, he walked forever in another dimension that is not of this world but also not his final resting place. But his prayer moved the Almighty and his contract with Eun Tak Became a loophole that became the way for him to go back and continue as an immortal. This was revealed in the scene where the lady in red and the Almighty (looking like Deok Hwa) were having drinks and talking about how sad they were that Kim shin has “left” and Eun Tak was all alone.
Just finished this drama! beautiful plot line, really enjoyed it, I was just a little upset in the end that everyone…
I LOVED this show and seen in dozens of times. Not to upset you further but I did the math after i first watched this... he waited nearly a hundred years actually, that’s why everybody was gone by the time he saw Eun tak again (in her second life). He really is “a LONELY” god!
You know it's golden when you rewatch it and still get excited for the next episode, still cry at the sad parts…
Agree! I have watched it in full - and sometimes just my favorite episodes - countless times already - since the first time i saw it in Dec 2017! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED indeed!
Thanks for your article. I also like watching short dramas (Korean, Japanese mostly, because Chinese dramas are usually very long!) and movies when I am feeling under the weather or just sad... or when I only have a short time to spend watching.
Out of your recommendations, I have only seen Splash Splash Love - which I loved! It's like watching a whole sageuk drama with all the usual elements -- in just 2 episodes! All my friends who have seen it did like it as well. Will try to check out your other recommendations later on... when I need a short drama!
Thanks for the article! Others I’ve seen are: Go Ho’s starry night, ChocoBank, Wednesdays 3:30 pm and Noble,…
I have watched 3 of your 4 recommendations (except for ChocoBank) and I must say, they are all good, fluffy and fun short dramas - perfect for a quick pick-me-up (whether sick or just feeling down). Will look for ChocoBank soon. Thanks for posting.
I think you have to like the fluffy type of romance. I wanted to try that movie but the cancer tag put me off.…
Hi Brownie! Thanks so much for this wonderful article highlighting Filipino movies for other MDL users. I am Filipino and I enjoy all shows/series and movies from all over the world as well. Kathryn and Daniel are a BIG loveteam now in the Philippines (for several years already) and there are many other "younger" loveteams on the scene as well. And some of them are the fluffy type of romance, while the older movies (80's-90's) are usually more of the melodramatic type.
Anyway, just wanted to encourage you to try to watch Everything About Her (I myself just rewatched it a few weeks ago)... Yes, it has a "cancer" tag, but trust me it is very funny, touching, and inspiring all at the same time. And even the ending is not "tragic", as you may imagine. It stars one of the greatest actresses in the history of Filipino movies, Ms. Vilma Santos (yes, we say the Ms. to emphasize our great respect for her hahaha) and you will know what I mean when you watch this film. :-) Happy viewing!
Great article, but I've tried to get into Filipino movies and started most of the ones on the list, but there's…
Hi! I am Filipino and I also enjoy watching dramas and movies from other countries (USA, South Korea, Japan, China and occasionally Taiwan and Thailand, and European films as well). I am super happy and excited that some of you here on MDL are now trying out and enjoying Filipino movies (which I also love, more than our TV dramas, to be honest!). Anyway, I just want to say that many of the romantic movies on Netflix that you may have tried to watch are the fluffy, romantic-comedy types, but we do have the more melodramatic ones as well (like Seven Sundays and yes, Everything About Her which stars a superstar in the Philippines, Ms. Vilma Santos). If you are not much into romance, you may want to try the historical ones, like Heneral Luna and Goyo (these are based on real-life heroes and also available on Netflix.) Don't be afraid to explore, just like Brownie said in her article, you just might end up liking it more than you expected or imagined. :-)
it has 10 eps on netflix, why does it have only 6 eps here?
Apparently, Netflix changed their original schedule of programming. I read a news item before that Season 1 was supposed to be 6 episodes only, followed after a few months by Season 2 with another 6 episodes and Season 3 with the last 6 episodes for next year.
wait a minute, there are only 6 episodes? it's 6 eps for season 1, right? does anyone know when season 2 and 3…
I just checked Netflix (Asia)... There are 10 episodes for Season 1 - 1 episode every Saturday and another episode every Sunday. From June 1 to June 30.
Beautifully sublime... loved the ending. The acting of both leads was wonderful - understated yet communicated clearly their feelings, even without words. (Their acting was truly "elegant", as another commenter here stated). Kim Jae Wook is truly a great actor, aside from being very handsome. Ms. Nakayama Miho is lovely. Highly recommended for those who want depth in their love stories. 9/10
Your review is scary lol ! This rememded me how painful the 3 last episodes of ten miles or peach blossom were…
I agree with you... I am glad it was a happy ending for our main couple but they did not have even a brief sweet moment in the very last scene - at the very least: a quick kiss, a kiss on the cheek, a hug or even an arm of Xu Feng on the shoulder of JinMi holding her close while carrying their child and Jin Mi putting her arm around his waist, would have been perfect (for me!).
And I missed Puchi and Uncle Moon Immortal too! A short mention of them would have been so great as well because they were my favorite supporting characters together with Princess LiuYing (of Bian City).
