Man that was a tough one. While they make Earth cry too much, you have to admit, he does it well. Sheesh. I would…
I agree with you on what Peak's scene SHOULD have been as opposed to what it was. He could have tacked on at the end that "I'm still waiting for you" or anything similar, and it would have gotten the idea across and still have been an appropriate conversation.
God, the sound quality really dropped for this second half, didn't it? Gun had sound like an 80s villain and like…
There have been several times in this second half that there was a sudden scene change with no transition. I didn't notice it in the first half, but that, not to mention the sound quality, in the last few episodes have been driving me crazy. The actors deserve better, because for the most part, they are giving it their all. (Just don't give Peat an emotional scene maybe? I feel bad for saying that, but sheesh!)
reading someone else's diary feels illegal somehow lol. def did not enjoy that bit (but i understand it was necessary…
Pai wasn't reading anyone's diary. It was a spiral bound sketchbook, but Pai called it a notebook because Sky was writing notes about him in it.
I agree with your description of Peat's acting. I can't imagine that they directed him to be cringey in the crying scenes....but maybe. He did so well in the sassy scenes. Honestly, I'm not very fond of the way he treats Fort in their interactions in real life, but maybe he really doesn't like doing the fan-service.
Sheesh, the comments! For those wondering whether to watch the show....if you can watch without taking it too seriously, and if you can overlook the fact that it's made in a country that is fairly non-accepting of an alternative lifestyle, and if you can take into account that the writing/production/acting may not be the best, then watch it. It's great! Yes, I cringe every time I hear "the world has changed" or "its a different time/era" or something like that. But I was cheering for Chon the whole time, and I got a few good laughs out of it. And Khaotung is honestly a really good actor. I honestly do not understand all of the hate some of these shows get. Oh, but skip the first 5 or so minutes, that really does kinda suck. LOL
Remember my comment earlier saying I was ready for anything? Yeah, I take that back.
I know, that sucked! And I hate the gloss-over too. It's like, "ok, let's start wrapping up this drama!" I mean, I'd have been ok with another couple episodes. (Is that a spoiler? idk. LOL) That plot twist tho.....*chef's kiss.* The plot hole it creates? ugh! "Here, let me just destroy these pages...." (ok, THAT was a spoiler. Hahaha)
I've scanned through the comments, and I, for one, am glad that Sky and Pai have a slower build-up to a relationship than Rain and Phayu, even though some people say they fell asleep watching this episode. It emphasizes that people are different in their reactions and expectations. Sky has had WAY different experiences than Rain, and this episode allows Sky to let go of some of his fears. Personally, (and for someone who had everyone scatter during an illness irl--pre-Covid--when expecting some TLC) I am glad to see Pai take care of Sky, even though it's just fantasy. And I find the way Fort looks at Peat as mesmerizing and romantic.
This is, by this point, more of a cult classic than anything. It helped push the hallyu wave. I fought against watching this for so long, because the clips I saw were SO bad. But then I gave in, and honestly, I'm glad I did. Might I suggest you watch Meteor Garden (the Chinese version)....which is also bad, but better. And especially, F4 Thailand: Boys Over Flowers, which is actually amazing in my opinion. The comparisons are fun when/if you've got nothing better to do. In F4 there is still misery, but the bonding of the friends, the growth of the characters, and ultimately, the romance, made this an epic tale worth the drama. And the acting is so much better!
While I agree with some parts of your review, I respectfully disagree with other parts. What I personally saw in the 2 main characters was a fair representation of a male and a female of their age: a failure to be honest with themselves or each other. I did see growth in the male lead, and I think (personally) that a player is a player until he finds reason to no longer be a player. As far as "two users walking hand in hand," (to use a quote) 'it be like that sometimes.' If those users can ultimately find love and happiness in each other, then so be it.
I'm not going to break down your whole review, but I am going to say that I've seen this drama occur too many times in real life to discount these characters. (That being said, the actors are also pretty to look at. LOL) Nevertheless is one of my all-time favorite dramas, and I am glad that you gave it better ratings than I would have expected from the review. However, I respect your written opinion, and I am glad to have seen your review.
I have a question for you guys. I always wait until the whole series comes out to watch everything at once but…
I'm the same, but I couldn't wait either, so I binged eps. 1-6 last week, then watched them all again before finally watching #7. It was worth it! And yes, as was already stated, the Sky/Prapai story starts on ep. 7, so it's a good time to watch Rain and Payu.
Yes, but let's not forget the sex scenes. Because they go over the top--over KinnPorsche, in my opinion. That…
Yeah, they couldn't have choreographed that and made it look that natural. I'm sure they were given direction, but they had to be drawing off of more than that.
Not every show needs to have complicated plots. Just because this one basically boils down to boy meets boy, discovers…
I agree. The fact that this series is more focused on relationships than some externally driven plot does not take away from my personal level of enjoyment. The romance itself is the plot. And watching these talented actors, young in their careers as well as in life, is amazing. I truly admire the way they are able to act some of these scenes in front of a whole production team, and knowing that the world will see the results, but still able to leave behind the awkwardness and act/react confidently and, for the most part, realistically. (I will say, though, that their level of confidence and realism irl usually would come from experience, but who knows, maybe they just click.)
That NC scene... Rain becoming more proactive... my gosh... if the level of editing kept up with the level of…
Someone else also posted a reply about the dialogues being cringey as well, and it was pointed out that the comments made during intimate scenes aren't always our finest. It's what comes out in the moment, because our brains are otherwise occupied. And honestly, if you've got time think of witty things to say....there are multiples ways to end this sentence, but I'll leave it there....and I totally agree that it's "Better that than a silent scene with a corny and distracting ballad blaring."
