I saw Seppuku more than a month ago and the remake about two weeks ago and I liked it but Kobayashi's was more intense and such a masterpiece. I am glad you liked it Pien (:
Are you done with Prince of Lan Ling yet?

It's not about being newbie or not, you just realized that you like Japanese dramas better than the Korean ones sooner than me, that's about it. I used to like Japanese dramas better but I watched more Korean dramas because they're more available. Now, things changed and I can't even touch a lot of Korean dramas.
I will give Sympathy for Lady vengeance a try soon but first I need to watch Sympathy for Lady vengeance and some interesting thrillers from 2013.
You shouldn't force yourself to get into dramas' mood, maybe you just enjoy films more.

I see, that's an interesting way of re-evaluate things, in my case; I look to the drama/film title and cast and remember if it still have the same effect on me like when I first watched it or not.
So for now, you will keep rewatching dramas? No new ones to start?

I gave up on viki a long time ago, I always download and when a drama isn't available for download, I prefer selecting another one even if it's a great one. The same goes with Chinese dramas, thankfully some great Wuxia dramas are available in download.
I must say that the Asian productions spread in out country wasn't this good when I was younger. We used to get only Martial arts movies, then about 10 years ago Bollywood films became very popular and now, I even get to buy some Japanese and Korean movies DVD from the mall. As for the intention to Kdramas, it's all because of the hallyu wave and Kpop fandom that kdramas became more popular. I am still Jdramas fan no matter what.
Tenchijin is so cool so far, I also love that bloody chaotic era in Japanese history since many things happened unlike the "boring" Edo era. Also, the Uetsugi family and Oda Nobunaga caught my interest when I was going through that era's history.
I will let you know how Shirota Yu when he shows up; he's not here yet (:
You finished Sealed with a Kiss? Congrats (:

I will start it as soon as possible; I am tangled with a long Japanese drama that I am really enjoying but Yasha is really one of my top priorities.
No, you're not the one wo spoiled Soul for me, but some idiot said that one of the leads will die at the end or something like that.
Since you like vampire stuff, have you seen the movie "Thirst"? Watch Freeze and if you like that drama watch Thirst.
Yes DA, killing a person is a crime although we get to kill people all the time :p

OMG DA, do we have some kind of telepathy? I was just thinking about that drama today and how much it took me to start it but at the moment I can't, I need to finish at least two other dramas to watch it. I will let you know when I do.
I heard Soul is about supernatural things and all. I will try to watch it although some idiot spoiled it for me.
Freeze is a human vampire drama, I don't know if you will like it.

Of course I will watch the latest season eventually.
You started it? I liked that drama on the psychological level but the mystery side was too predictable for me.

I haven't seen Atami no Sousakan but it's on my top priority; I even donloaded it about a month ago but I got distracted by other priorities. Such as Reply 1994 and my first taiga.
Oh, you saw Seppuku? How did you like it?

Hahaha Erin, you said it yourself!
There aren't any melodramas? Poor you but I thought that there are many makjangs going on; did you try to look them up?
I will refrain from melodramas but that doesn't mean I will stop watching them for good. Although, I don't see myself getting interested in a melo.

So you're like that? Once you watch dramas you can't watch movies and vise versa? I was like that in the past and sometimes it took me several weeks to translate from movies' phase to dramas' phase but now I can easily watch both at the same time (:

Even the team that picked Kurokouchi is being late; I hope they won't drop. I am loosing confidence in Jdramas subbing teams.
Yes, he was really cute when he was playing video games and when the female lead was beating him in those games LOL! I liked those parts where he seemed a little clumsy. I have yet to find another project of Lau Hawick that may grab my intetion.
Thanks! I was actually truing to attract more people to Japanese classics by explaining some facts because I know many of my friends love history and I was somewhat sucessful since many of them decided to give it a go.
Btw, I started my first taiga drama today. It feels so good!

By old dramas you mean very old ones? As prior to 2005?
I wish you luck with whatever you're busy with Bladey!

Yes, I always watch my movies on the big screen at home, it's a great pleasure of mine so the high quality is a must for me unless it doesn't exist.
I am also frustrated about changing the female lead even if I like the actress that plays the new role. I will watch it eventually but not now, I just started my first taiga drama and I have to watch some other dramas first.
Are you still in movies' phase?

The drama's title is Mahoro Ekimae Bangaichi. Only watch it if you like Japanese sense of comedy; if not, I am not sure if you will appreciate it.
I always ran into those while watching Samurai and even kung fu movies but the ones that focus on that culture aren't something I want to watch.

Aww, I wish your problem will get solved soon DA!
What do you think of Soul? Is it good? I like Lee Soo Jin ever since I saw him in Freeze.
In comments below, I will enumerate the differences between the original and the remake; it’s complementary…
The way one of the three strong retainers of Iyi committed Harakiri out of shame on the spot was appreciated since it didn't exist in the original.
The final fighting scene in the original was way better than in the remake. I can understand the irony of using a wooden sword to hurt the best Samurai in the Iyi clan but the killing that Hanshiro did in the original was way more appealing.
The final scene in Kobayashi’s version when the retainer of the house of Iyi said: “The ronin from Hiroshima, Tsugumo Hanshiro, committed harakiri. All our own men died of illness. The house of Iyi has no retainers who could be felled or wounded by some half-starved ronin.” is way too fascinating than in the remake where the lord of the Iyi clan returned and noticed that the Samurai’s armor was polished (after it was knocked down by Hanshiro) then he said “It’s the house of Iyi’s honor after all”.
