Seems like the description of this drama above is a little too much information...a little spoilerish. Just sayin'.....
Well, the description is the novel's description. (Maybe the drama will differ a little from it?) Since it's based off a novel, a lot of the Chinese viewers of the drama already know how the story goes.
Well the subber was uploading on YT, so probably copyright problems?
Sorry, but viki doesn't have Princess of Lan Ling? At least, not licensed. If they did, it would still be on their website currently, but I can't find it. The subtitles were from a youtube channel that was doing it as fan-subbing.
I think the money that viki charges goes to running the site and copyright. Before, when production companies weren't as strict about usage of copyrighted material, viki was basically fan-run. The videos, subbing, etc. were all done by fans. So maybe it's still in the transition phase, trying to figure out if paying translators is worth it or not.
I think DF pays their translators. But because DF pays money to translators, a lot of the dramas that are subbed are the popular ones because they want more website traffic. The probability of less popular dramas getting subbed is close to nil.
Is it the glitchy / flashing colour change of the background of the comments? Cause I have that happening when…
I haven't tried rating anything after the change yet, but there are comments by other people about the same problem, so it's not only you. I'm sure they're working on fixing all the bugs/glitches of the new platform.
@zhendejiade It's more just historical in fictional time period and countries. There is no supernatural element that I can think of and probably not much martial arts (the wuxia kind) in this drama either.
i just can't take Zhang Vin's seriously with the dubbing, eyebrow makeup, and his flat expression/glare…
As much as I looked forward to this drama, I agree with this. I really wished that Zhang Bin Bin played a more serious & amart character (sorta black-belly) instead of a love-sick fool of a king...

Are the episodes you've watch so far worth watching?

I'm only able to find the episodes on iqiyi and have to change vpn because it is restricted in certain regions.

Cause I have that happening when I'm scrolling down my feed...
But what's up with the super-speed special effects?
At least not so far!

The airing date says it ends on the 18th. Is that wrong?
Can't wait till next Thursday...
