It’s been a while since I enjoyed a xianxia drama so much. Or that it unexpectedly carried such a high body count. I probably cried buckets with this drama. Bai Lu and Ao Rui Peng were amazing with their performance as was the rest of the cast, the OST phenomenal and the cinematography colorful and out of this world ethereal. Beautiful 9/10
Love Deng Wei since his first role in Miss The Dragon. He did great as a first time ML in here. His character is so hilarious sometimes yet intense and tender at others. He’s amazingly versatile. Xiang Hanzhi is great too, although I’m definitely more biased toward Mu Qingge; it’s too bad she appears so little. Lovely drama, lovely OST and lovely ending ❤️❤️
Majority of people dig the second leads’ relationship but I honestly love the main one better. I think it is mostly due to Gong Ziyu’s part more than Yun Wei Shan because his love is so honest and pure, and his devotion to her is just swoon. There’s more fire and dynamic to the second couple, however I could not swallow the annoying fact ShangGuan Qian continuously lied to Gong Shangjue or that he’s just as ruthless toward her. The only honest moment they had with each other was toward the end, and even then neither of them knows it.
But that ending though. There needs to be a second season asap.
the male lead is not male leading sadly, they did him so dirty, no wonder I saw backlashes about his character
He is actually a very worthy male lead. I initially had the same thoughts as you but as I keep watching, his character continually surprises me. Simply put, he is the sucker punch you never saw coming.
Just rewatched the last episode on Netflix. I forgot how explosive, climatic, beautiful and tragic it was. Such a visual feast, the best I’ve seen from cdramas in years. ❤️
I’ve been smitten with Xiao Zhan ever since seeing him in the trailer for The Wolf, liked him in The Untamed but didn’t truly fall in love until The Longest Promise. What a beautiful man and a wonderful actor he is! So looking forward to more of his works and especially as Guo Jing in the upcoming LOCH !
I love the way Shi Ying looks at Zhu Yan after he realizes he wants to give up priesthood and be with her. His eyes articulate everything he wants to tell her, and they’re so soft and loving, entirely different from his usual guarded looks. Zhu Yan is such a dummy for not seeing the change in his demeanor. Between did anyone feel sad when Shi Ying destroyed the handkerchief, the blessing scrolls and the jade pendant ? It’s a pity Zhu Yan never knew how much thoughts and love he poured into their safekeeping yet in the end he was also the one who destroyed them 😔
I'm rewatching some episodes and I just have to say how much I love Zhu Yan's reaction to Shi Ying's attack on…
Thank you! You’re the first person I’ve seen that actually understands Zhu Yan. I myself love Shi Ying too but I also understand things from her perspective and feel that so many people give her so much flak because they’re infatuated with Shi Ying. Zhu Yan is extremely clear-headed and yes she’s stubborn too but she knows exactly what she’s doing. She doesn’t defy Shi Ying out of impulse but instead tries to reason with him and pleads with him multiple times too. In fact, Shi Ying is the one (and he even admits it later on) who’s stubborn and won’t listen. I understand things both from they’re perspectives; both are doing what they think is right, but not many are willing to look at it from Zhu Yan’s side.
I just noticed Netflix’s episode counts are 43 instead of 40. I wonder if it’s because they’ll split those extended episodes into separates? If they do, I hope by some some miracle they can add a few extra scenes that were cut in, because the few last episodes are quite choppy🤞.
But that ending though. There needs to be a second season asap.
