Thank you for this! I’ve been racking my brain trying to interpret those 2 special episodes. It totally makes sense now! Although I’m confused as to how they got revived, I’m just glad they’re finally together. As for the white wedding, it makes me wonder if it was ever real, if so does that mean Ying Yuan and Yan Dan were revived in the Heavens, had the wedding, then went to the mortal world to live out their lives? Either way, my heart is thankful for the HE. I can move on now 😄

Well we also have to account for the fact China has a tendency of cutting out a lot of contents in order to air. So the fact a lot of the things that happened in the second half may seem “convenient” could be due to that problem. But IMO a lot of plot points that made people go “huh?” before, I thought they were very well explained towards the end.

Yes, I have noticed whenever our trio is not busy with heavenly and mortal affairs, the minute they have time to sit still, Ying Yuan would get that look in his eyes whenever he looks at Yan Dan. I always interpret it as a very peculiar blend of love, lust, respect and playfulness. That one kissing scene between Cheng Yi and Crystal Yuan in L&R is quite infamous, but I have to say I loved that last kiss Ying Yuan shared with Yan Dan in Land Under The Horizon so much more. It wasn’t just hot and passionate, it was also poignant and tender. A beautiful moment between two people who finally laid bare all their feelings to each other after all the avoidance and misunderstandings ❤️

Please let the rumor of bonus episodes be true because my heart is breaking into a thousand pieces and I can’t, I just can’t. This is just too cruel…I’m extremely traumatized and distraught right now. I can still remember the look of eerie stillness on Ying Yuan’s face as he dies in front of Yandan, Yandan trying and failing to catch Ying Yuan as he fades away, Yumo trying and failing to catch Yandan as she fades away…💔
But amidst our beloved couple’s tragic fate, I am also very saddened by Xuan Xiang/Liu Wei Yang’s end. He’s such a pitiful character. For over a thousand years he has been deceived by the woman he loved wholeheartedly, and even at her last moment she never once looked at him as she lay dying in Huan Qin’s arms. Ying Deng might have been hateful and duplicitous but her duplicity was nothing compared to Tao Zi Qi who used a good man’s true love for her own selfish ends.
Alas, the one good thing that came out all of these tragedies was that Ying Yuan got to reunite with his parents. Although they might’ve not appeared in reality, I’d like to think the fragment of the Moment-Turning Gear allowed them to be manifested in real time in the plane of Illusion of Demons. Cheng Yi gave such a stunning performance as Xuan Ye and Ying Yuan, a dynamic father and son duo. I was especially surprised and touched that Ran Qing appeared at the end. After so many millennia, she and Xuan Ye finally got to be reunited and be the couple they should’ve been at the start ❤️

Please Youku, please give us those episodes and give our couple the happiness they utmost deserve 🙏

After today’s episode, I can admit unashamedly Xuan Ye can use me and lie to me all he wants 😆
On a serious note, I realized after watching today’s ending and the previously released trailer of Asura King, I have a bad feeling for hot daddy Xuan Ye. He is going to be stuck in a vicious loop, and no matter what he does, he can’t ever change the outcome…. 😢
Also, I suddenly remembered early in the series, it was said the Land In The Horizon (or was it the Sacred Tree) was moved to Heavenly Realm. I wonder if that place/tree was the same place where Xuan Ye and Ran Qing first fell in love ?

I could be wrong on this theory but according to a clip I saw a few weeks ago, Xuan Ye was definitely alive when Huan Qin made his appearance. Or maybe that wasn’t the past but the future…?

Random thought: is it possible that Huan Qin was in love with Ran Qing but she fell for Xuan Ye instead?

I have noticed Cheng Yi since his Noble Aspirations days and always thought he looked very distinctive among other actors and he has the acting chops to boot. Unfortunately it took Love and Redemption for him to be well-known. I really liked him as Si Feng in L&R, however unlike you I actually prefer his character(s) in IS better. I think there is much more depth to his character in here; he portrays a tortured person shackled by the burden of responsibilities and torn with his love for a woman he should’ve never felt. Yet he chooses to love selflessly but not destructively (like Si Feng). Although Si Feng is extremely loyal, he is also too vulnerable as a character; because of his love he bares himself to all kinds of hurt, most of them inflicted directly or indirectly by Xuan Ji. And he has no qualms about the kind of sacrifices that he has to make as long as the love of his life is safe and happy. This sounds all nice and happy but I was emotionally and mentally drained watching Si Feng suffered 90% throughout the drama. Si Feng’s character is very reminiscent to Ye Hua for me but difference is Si Feng would hurt himself first before ever hurting Xuan Ji, and that’s wherein lies the problem. He’s too sacrificing, too blind, too good and loyal to a woman who may or may not deserve such love from him. In short, Si Feng’s existence is dependent on Xuan Ji. But Ying Yuan/Tang Zhou is different. They have their own responsibilities and desires but they don’t let their love for a person or their responsibilities to overrule their sense of self. Cheng Yi has always been an impressive actor to me but in all honesty, it is truly Immortal Samsara and not L&R that has allowed me to see the true prowess of his acting skills. The subtle nuances in his expressions, his eyes when they emote, everything about his acting in IS is superb and amazing.

Any chance this wonderful drama will be licensed on Netflix ? Because no way Love Between Fairy and Devil does and this doesn’t.

I’ve always loved Allen Ren since his Glory of Tang days and I’ve been meaning to watch One and Only and Forever and Ever but have been sidetracked by other dramas 😄

Yes I’ve heard of Ancient Love Poetry. In fact, I’m very familiar with most xianxia in recent years. The reason why I didn’t include it in my list was because this drama although good, did not cause quite a stir as the ones I previously mentioned. But ALP has always been on my to watch list 😊

Even though this drama has not yet finished airing, I’m just gonna go ahead and say this is one the largest scale xianxia drama I’ve ever seen produced. We get amazing surprises every year and I must say they surpass themselves time and again every year. Since Journey of Flower, we have had 10 Miles, Ashes of Love, the Untamed, Love and Redemption and now Immortal Samsara. The scope of epicness just gets bigger and bigger, the stories and characters more ambitious. Looking back on this drama from episode 1 to now and after seeing the snippets for future episodes, it just boggles my mind how huge this drama production is. The amount of characters, stories and arcs literally messes with my mind and reminds me how much hard work the cast and crew put into this production.
I just wish many viewers who criticized this drama at first glance will give it proper chance before trashing it from front to back, because it truly is amazing. I daresay this drama is my new all time favorite, surpassing even AOL and L&R ❤️

The plot is definitely a bit problematic however the acting more than makes up for it. Zheng Yecheng and Hu Yi Xuan were both amazing. I think they were each other’s equal in the acting department, loved their dynamics. I loved his visual pairing with Zhao Lusi in Killing of 3k Crows however, her acting was nowhere near his so it’s good to see he found his equal in this drama 🥰
