Hope that it has some serious moments though, Kim Jae Wook's last drama was so cookie cutter.
Some woke people are pissed for no reason so maybe that's why.
From what I've learnt 2% is fine for a drama on these pay channels. While its not directly a big hit, its not considered a failure either. It is also a bit niche being dark and twisted AF, not everyone feels for watching somehing like this after a hard day at work. By the way aother tvN drama airing right now, Yumi's Cells had 1.87% last week.
It was also followed by the very slow last episode ending on a cliffhanger. I can almost guarantee you that something behind the scenes went down between the production team and Netflix with the big bucks, maybe even in the middle of production.
Even though its not perfect, its not overhyped, its like the most consistent and best death game tv series ever made. And please don't mention Alice in Borderland with that second half where it more or less became a cheesy Paris Fashion Week with alot of overacting. I binged Squid Game myself in one day, even called in sick at work just to keep watching, lulz.
It's indeed pretty nuts its becoming the most watched drama on Netflix OF ALL TIME. If a drama is "overrated", "meh" or "boring" like many of you write, it won't become the most watched drama on Netflix of all time. I can literally not wait for season 2! There is no way the writer who is famous for writing masterpieces would end a story like that.
8.3 on imdb is quite impressive, people are usually harsh AF over there, especially if its something asian. Congratulations to the huge success, the worldwide smash hit is a fact!
