Its slow paced, low key story without any surprises/plot twists and I am sure it will be like this until the ending - still its healing and putes a smile on my face. Glad I picked it up again! Sometimes you just need a drama like this between the more intense stuff.
After watching the first two episodes I did not get the hype at all. However the third episode was so cute! I…
Its a low key slice of life drama and it will be like that until the end. And thats just fine, sometimes these kind of dramas are relaxing for some people.
I also started out with Jdramas and used to love them. I remember the good old ones - GTO, Beach Boys, Waterboys, Summer Snow, Byakuyaku, Kimura Takuya's all classic ones such as Long Vacation, Good Luck and Hero, and more. Then something happened along the way and Jdramas just lost their touch for me. The same can be said about Japanese music that used to be so good in the 90s/early 2000s.
I try to check out recent Japanese stuff as well but most of it is... crap, to be honest, and this comes from someone who more or less have been obsessed with Japan for the last 20 years and will forever love the country. I used to live there as well. The magic from the early 90s and early 2000s is simply lost. I actually tried to watch the newest "hit drama" that apparently is a big buzz in Japan right now called "Promise Cinderella", and I couldn't stand more than 1 episode, everything just felt so cheesy and cheap, and of course the overacting... Don't get me wrong, there are gems here and there from Japan too recently but they are hard to find, sadly.
With that said, In my opinion, Kdramas dramas are better than ever right now, probably better than most American series/on the same level as HBO stuff. Recent Korean dramas are luxurious productions, often shot better than high budget Hollywood movies, the scripts are good (with a few hits and misses here and there, sure), but overall extremely high quality of everything. Then we have the kpop boom, BTS, Parasite winning best movie of the year, and the list goes on.
Again, this comes from someone who LOVES Japan... but you just have to admit that South Korea is killing it right now.
