Sorry it's been a while since I watched this, so I'll answer you as much I can remember. ML and SFL are childhood friends and it's kinda common thought that they'll marry. She likes him but he only regards her as a childhood friend. ML and FL are married for political purpose. SFL becomes vengeful but there is a redemption for her later.
The thing that is sad is actually not ML and SFL, but FL and SML, but it's a big spoiler so I can't tell you.
Ep 3: Although his breakfast is yuck, but I think he drinks it everyday to remind him of the sour and saltiness of his life [not a spoiler, just my interpretation]... looking forward to Ep 4 to find out more about his past.
Well, the main plot is a political scheme secret, and small strange stuff in every case that later to be revealed with medical and psychological logic. If you're a mystery genre fan, imo it's not actually mysterious like supernatural stuff.
Ep 3: The opening told by the store owner. Now I wish if there is such a memory store like that just to go there and here stories! The second story is hilarious but also touching! Looking forward for Ep 4 for the rest of Piang's story.

I have a hunch they just make Chen Yu has a girlfriend to avoid any possibility BL fan C-netz shipping Chen Yu and Wu Zhen Feng, since they have strong chemistry just by glaring at each other, lol!
