I started this year and while I may have watched slightly different dramas I could identify with the experiences…
You should get ready to write an article, like I did, telling us your drama journey when you are 1 year old in dramaland... in 3 months! It should be fun to read!

I really loved your article, I find it very useful and I tend to agree with most of your opinions.....but most…
When I first started, I admired Kdramas too. The directing, script, acting, cinematography, OST etc so far generally are still above dramas from the other countries. Even the youth Kdramas (with new/unknown actors/actresses and short episodes) are well done (like from the Playlist). Another plus, they cater to us by providing English subs so fast, unlike other countries that are slower or not subbed until some fan subbers picked them up, need to hunt them down, lol. I only become gradually watching Cdramas because they have so many romcoms that are my preferred genre.
The only thing I know for sure that may deter non Asians watching dramas is that they have to read the sub instead of hearing it straight. That's what I heard in a radio talk show (I'm in the US) when they talked about Parasite that won Academy Awards.

Have you watched Maiden Holmes? Its a chinese historical drama that got me out of a slump and it's such a perfect…
Is Maiden Holmes good? I want to stretch it for a while cos I just finished watching My Unicorn Girl with the same actress as FL: Sebrina Chen. That is also my trick to not get bored: I try not to watch drama/movie with the same actor/actress as main leads back to back, unless I completely have crush on someone, lol

Oh, we fell down the rabbit hole at about the same time! You have been way more adventurous than I, though. I…
Actually the Thai drama I mentioned is quite mellow, lots of eye candies too, lol. My article that comes next (supposedly today, too) recommending a Thai drama that is also mellow (not spicy enough for a usual Thai drama). Just click the link down here to preview. Check it out!

For a Chinese historical (I called it Chinese costume drama, cos they are not really historical anyways), I recommend some romcoms first, before you watch more serious or long drama. The ones I mentioned also for a beginner. Just limit to 20ish episodes, first.

A well written article that spells out the journey for a lot of new Asian drama fans. I too started watching because…
Actually, you can still read reviews/synopsis, watched trailers, etc without joining MDL. Unless you want to post something, right?

What an interesting pair! I saw Esther Yu om Marcus Sim's video about this drama and couldn't recognize her with too much makeup on.

unlike the other F4 members, I think Didi is quite successful breaking away from the idol dramas, his drama choices are quite interesting. Can't wait for him pairing up with Xiao Tan

I wonder if this has a romance in it. Surely Naoto and Tao look good together.
