If you find other stuff (like Second ML, etc) make you regret it then skip the scenes with them. This drama does not have sad ending, neither does the novel. I think you got confused with the bad editing in the last episodes.

I have a feeling I would give this drama rating 10 even before I watch it, lol. Cos I applauded dramas with well-executed unique story line. Thanks for the article! My first impression when I read about it is that the drama is confusing with two different main stories and two different time lines. Besides I'm not to keen with high-school/college dramas anymore due to character immaturity. Though I have had it in my PTW list for sometime. Someday I will give this a try when I don't have any 2020 drama to watch. I hope I will find drama guidance to clarify confusing moments too.
