how does this one fare compared to nirvana in fire?
Hi fellow! Random find you here. It's much better than NIF, but because it's heavy history and political intrigue, so maybe a bit hard for international fans to understand. The MDL rating is low here, but it has good feedback in china. It's the largest budget and best quality history drama I've watched in years, and probably it will be hard to find another one in the next 10 years.
S1 and S2 both very long (S2 even better than S1), with 30% fictional and 70% real history. It's an epic! Many senior casts in it with great acting (they made the history characters alive and shining). Many brilliant schemes in it. I love NIF too, but I would say NIF is like a short novel compared to it. Suggest you have a try if you like heavy history things.
Welcome to the Cdrama family. Might I recommend a few to you? Love like the galaxy is a historical drama. The…
I'm a fan of historical political intrigue genre too! I like all the dramas you mentioned. If you don't mind, here're some more to recommend, hope you like them 😊:
1. The Advisors Alliance and Season 2: Growling Tiger, Roaring Dragon. Please ignore the rating on MDL, it's very popular in china, but it's heavy political intrigue and history drama, many international fans are not interested in it. It's the largest-budget historical cdrama I have watched in years. Very good quality and has many senior casts (great acting make me feel they are real ancient people). The story is in the Three Kingdoms, 30% fictional, 70% real history, many large-scale wars in S2, with very brilliant military strategies and political schemes. I'm a Three-Kingdom fan haha.
2. Legend of Xiao Chuo. Another political intrigue and history drama. The female characters are also shining in it. Most of the events and wars are real in history.
3. The Sleuth of the Ming Dynasty. It's a case investigation and political intrigue drama. You can skip some fillers in the first half, the pace will pick up in the second half.
Btw, I see you want to watch Secret of the Three Kingdoms, I like it, (the chemistry of the lead is also intense ), but the second half is draggy, because it's created by the screenwriter, the novel ends in the first half. So the first half (about to ep 22/25 ) is better, still worths watching!
This director did a good job in the storytelling pace, despite the annoying glare. But I don't want to see another director ruin a good novel like Destined.
Can anyone tell me how the series is received in China? Are people a little more understanding of BL and ZLH's…
It's awarded '2023 Audience Favourite Drama' on iQiYi Scream Night last weekend. It's very popular this year! Most people like BL and ZLH, they even opened a weibo supertalk for the couple haha. but haters are also active online.
same I'm just spending my free time going over their bts, variety show and other promo materials 😵💫
Same, I'm glad they are still releasing new materials, also happy to see the team on iQiYi Scream Night! Waiting for upcoming events in Dec like Weibo Vision Night, GQ Night. Bailu and Zlh will probably attend too.
I don't understand why the wedding was so private. not even her parents were there. why?
In the novel, their families and friends all attended. In the drama, we are the guests. They made special videos for the audience. The wedding scene is in the epilogue, but they still filmed it.
