Cool story but tell him to stop being a hypocrite in regards to BLM and Hong Kong first. Or how he supports the…
He post so openly about BLM on twitter but then had the nerve to apologize in regards to recognizing hong kong as different fom China. That basically means hes in favor of the police brutality in Hong Kong, making him a hypocrite.

As for the thai dictatorship, he refuses to criticize them despite openly being political about blm earlier. Meanwhile his label Tay Tawan does so freely. Bright is a betraying the people of thailand and the free world

Feel whatever you want to feel. The moment you try to censor what i and many others enjoy is where i draw the line (and like i said, i watched the show and i still cant even find anything remotely harmful to me, so the complaints puzzle me). You know whats really harmful? Gays being caned in Malaysia and Indonesia. Islamic countries killing lgbt on a daily basis. Worry about the real issues please.

I respect your opinions. We all have our own bias. To Bright's defence, he's been casted as the main lead 7 times…
" he's been casted as the main lead 7 times now in just the past 2 years"

and hes still bad after all these years.

"Bright does have a unique and exotic good look"

No he looks like a white guy. You only worded it that way because you don't want to acknowledge the clear racial hierarchy that exists in Thai entertainment.

He's great as a model but very terrible as an actor. Try watching the acclaimed series "My Ambulance", yes, he's…
Its white privilege. Bright is mixed with american so he can get away with terrible acting and still be a top tier celebrity while a regular asian man has to work twice as hard to get to where Bright is. Just look at a Win. Even hes not as popular despite being the better actor. Life is not fair. Thai society is completely prejudice!

"Harmful". Yeah, nothing about this show affects me as a gay person PERIOD. Stop acting like gay people are a monolith. Many Gay people (who arent stick in the muds) like this show too. We're just making our voices heard just like you are. Not every Gay person sees everything in a "problematic" lens

I'm not even female. I pick that gender to match my avi of Helen Lovejoy from the Simpsons but go on and play the victim to another gay person i guess lol

I totally see where you're coming from! But I must say that I disagree with the concept that LGBTQ people aren't…
" I just think it's kind of sad that some people act like LGBTQ people aren't allowed to comment about their own portrayals in BL specifically, just because of who it's original target audience was."

and i think its ironic, considering the amount of LGBT that do enjoy shows like these? so the gay people who do like traditional BL shows aren't allowed to enjoy them anymore? They are very much part of the community too. Your comment screams "I want shows to only follow this type of formula" which screams self centered. You're not trying to advocate for any diversity at all.

" the producers noted that they can go on with this cheesy and unrealistic formula because it is cheap and the profit is high"

or they do it because there are people in Thailand who enjoy it and who are you to tell people what they should want to see in their tv shows? Its not even in your place to dictate because you are not originally from there. Respect the people and their culture or move back.

There is room for both realistic representation and fantasy romance. The Philippines does a whole lot of LGBT realism. Go support them and leave thailand alone if you hate their cheesy thai shows so much.

"No one's talking about the issue of colorism in this drama because it isn't one, whereas the representation of fem presenting gays being rude/harmful stereotype is. Your use of the phrase "selective outrage" is beyond strange in this instance since colorism isn't apart of the selection."

So? and if we're going to blow up "problematic" issues like this, then lets just address all of them then! Colorism happens so often in Thai media but no one ever talks about it (because most of yall love it when they frequently cast half white people but would hate seeing a half black lead). At least femmes can get a lead role in BLs. Does that not counteract one TINY ROLE of a femme perv? Yet what about the dark skin women? They don't get anything. Not even support roles. The only thing they get is Urassaya selling them whitening creams and trans gagwomen like Jennie cheapening their image. People are quick to playing the victim but will never sticking up for those with lesser privilege and have it worse.

what you hate about the show is what i like about it tbh. It simply goes into the fanservice lane of the BL world…
"this person simply voiced their own frustrations and opinions about common stereotypes and issues in this show."

What common stereotypes? I've never thought of femmes as pervs because i've met pervs of all backgrounds. Again its not that serious. Its a tv show. There have been femmes casted in lead roles in BLs too.

"Shutdown may be a bit much though admittedly so instead let's go with.. discouraging them."

in the same vein, one could say they are trying to discourage others from enjoying the show. Opinions are a two way street.

"Also, no. The answer to someone's valid concerns and criticisms shouldn't be "go watch something else then" and if you can't see how negatively charged and rude that statement is then I'm sorry."

Sorry but there isn't a nice way to say it. They're on this position to where they're actually advocating to remove a genre away from BL shows. Why can't gays and women enjoy fantasy shows like this? I think we should encourage all types of BL shows and if people want to watch LGBT realism. I support them too. They should support shows they want to watch and no one is forcing them to watch shows like these. I've personally avoided shows that took part in colorism like 3 will be Free. Its as simple as that.

"That's honestly the kind of thinking that stunts growth and denies change on important issues, like that of hurtful representation in media for example."

Nah i just think you're being overly preachy. And what actually stunts growth in the arts/film is censorship and whitewashing like what you're suggesting. There should be freedom of expression in the arts. You don't have to like the show or the direction it takes, but to advocate for erasure of their creative direction is selfish.

"Being a bit blunter though I must say that, asking for harmful stereotypes to be put to rest is not the same as "advocating for the erasure of fanservice" and if you think it is, I think you really need to reconsider what exactly your definition of fanservice is"

I didn't see ANYTHING stereotypical, so.....

Yet you people see no problem with what Jennie Panhan CONSTANTLY does. Shes making dark skin women and trans women…
"Why would I mention Jennie or colorism where it doesn't apply?"

Well if we're going to get overly picky about problematic GMMTV scenes, we might as well bring out ALL the other "issues" that happen in their Thai dramas too. Right? or would ignoring it be more comfortable for you? Its either we all talk about the problematic s*** or we don't at all. After all, it so commonly happens in Thai media and BL but no one ever talks about it because they secretly support the overrepresentation of half whites and erasure of dark skin women and half black discrimination.

"In regards to Jennie, I don't see your issue with her specifically. She is a dark skinned trans women who is cast in a variety of roles (see her role as Angel of Death in The Shipper vs. Mae in 3 Will Be Free). She is more often cast in comedic roles because she is, as you said, a comedian."

Yes, a "comedian" that makes dark skin women and trans women to be the butt of the joke time and time again. Thats a laugh. People are not laughing with her. They are LAUGHING AT HER. Just look at her tv show "Wrong Say Do" where the premise of the show is to laugh at her bad english (portraying dark skin people as uneducated yet again) and physically harassing foreign men (which what yall again have a problem with right?)

"and your use of "you people" came off homo/queerphobic because who exactly is 'them' and 'you people'? Extremely rude and uncalled for."

So i can't use "you people" even though i am gay? Okay... that makes NO SENSE. I used that word to describe the people whining about this particular non-issue. Thats all.

the people on this site are becoming annoying and preachy. They are obsessed with killing off entertainment that other people enjoy. They have the right to not like the show or not watch. I miss when BL was not popular because we wouldn't have to deal with entitled people like this >_>

Where did i shut down his opinion?

Oh right. i didn't. You just made that up to slander me.

I simply said i had the opposite opinion. They want LGBT realism? there is plenty of that in filipino dramas as well as western ones. I don't advocate for the erasure of fanservice shows like this person wants. They can have their story without the tropes. I support them 100%. They don't like shows like these? they don't have to watch.

PLEASE. Hes not fighting for no cause. All this is basically selective outrage. none of them care about colorism that happens in many thai dramas but god forbid some femme gets stuck in some one shot pervert role and now they wanna say something.

the lead character is effeminate. Is that not good enough for them? Yet dark skin women are written out of existence in thai tv shows and only get portrayed by trans women who are GAG COMEDIANS that people LAUGH AT. Thats not right.

i'm seeing both good and bad comments about the show. the classic thai bl tropes, i'm-only-gay-for-you, femme…
what you hate about the show is what i like about it tbh. It simply goes into the fanservice lane of the BL world and not into the world of LGBT realism like many filipino/western shows. Shows like these have an audience (yes including lgbt) whether you like it or not.

and i don't see the problem with the femme being a perv when men in general (Masc or Femme) get casted in roles like that. Even females sometimes. People are looking too deep into that.
