What is happening in the comment section of the 2nd link? Who is homophobic?
It seems the screenwriter said the show is for people who want to enjoy a love story involving two men without having to see them engage in any sexual activity. This is what most audiences everywhere want. (Islamic countries excepted.) Some people here on MDL say this is what they like about the show. I wouldn't say they are being homophobic.
CM's approach to gay sex or identity is similar to what we saw in 2gether: The Series. Both are extremely popular shows intended for all ages. There are other BL shows like that as well.
She said a lot of people assume a show labeled "BL" will show sex. (We see this here in the MDL comments as well.) She avoids using the BL label only to avoid the baggage that goes along with it. The generalizations about the BL genre will change as people are exposed more and see diversity in the storytelling.
Nothing short of amazing how much better these subs are, compared to others I've seen. Irozuku has given us much…
Exactly. Such a long wait though. I know I shouldn't complain, but Mich needs to reevaluate priorities. That was the worst timed relocation/quarantine ever! ;-)
You are right. Without the power, Adachi would have probably still thought of everyone's and especially Kurosawa's…
I didn't realize Adachi repeated the director's thoughts exactly until I read Irozuku's subs today. The other translations didn't make that evident. This certainly helps make Adachi's actions, intention, and self-criticism more understandable.
Irozuku subs are up: https://irozuku.org/fansub/drama/30-sai-made-doutei-dato-mahoutsukai-ni-narerurashii-ep-11/
Nothing short of amazing how much better these subs are, compared to others I've seen. Irozuku has given us much more faithful and better flowing dialogue. Thank you! I feel so much better about the episode now. At the same time, I'm feeling frustrated and somewhat misled by the previous efforts that lost so much in translation. Ugh.
If you could give one piece of advice to Adachi or/and Kurosawa after watching episode 11, what would it be?[please…
To Adachi: You've been feeling the pressure and tried to force something to happen. Don't! I get it. You were frustrated. You don't want to disappoint the people in your life, especially him. But focus on yourself for now. You're scared and confused, so give yourself time to figure out who you are and how you can be happy. Maybe you're not physically attracted in the way he wants, or the way you want. That's OK. He'll love you and support you no matter what. Practice dating (hanging out) was fun, right? Maybe you two can keep that going without either of you feeling so much pressure. Also, remember what you told Fujisaki. You don't need romance to experience joy and happiness in life. You meant that, right?! And stop beating yourself up all the time. "Self-care", Google it! Oh, and about the magic, you'll probably get better at tuning that out, just like Professor X did. That's my guess. Above all, don't listen to all these crazy Cherry Maho fans! They are selfish. :-D
To Kurosawa: You've been carrying this torch for a long, long time, dude. For most of that time, you knew you would have to let it go eventually. No one can rightfully say you're at fault here. Adachi needs time to figure out who he is and what he wants, and so do you. He still needs you, so be his friend. You're mature enough to handle that. And think about opening yourself up to the world. There's someone out here who CAN give you everything you deserve. (Call me, baby!)
Kelly's line was not a "rape joke". She was threatening revenge, but with no real intention behind it. You thought…
I'm sorry you were offended. Objectively appropriate or politically correct for a role model or a reasonable person is one thing. But her character is abused and outrageous and the circumstances weren't normal, so I wasn't shocked by it.
Episode 6: Redemption was a good set-up for next week's season finale. The plot/storyline progressed with Benjo…
Clearly, they wanted to give Beverly Salviejo as much screen time as possible. It was more than the story required, but I'm not complaining. She is LOL funny! Edna's return did not disappoint.
Yeah it was pretty clear for a long time but I guess some saw it as a fun theory. It would be a shocking plottwist…
Yes, we know a few things about the magic, and you've described one (undesirable) scenario. But yours is not the only possible one. That's all I mean to say.
This show/manga doesn't reveal very much in the way of rules or internal logic, so there's room for fans, screenwriters, or the mangaka to play if they want. You could have a secretly magical Kurosawa who isn't manipulative or otherwise different in character. Some amateur writer may be creating that for us right now. :-D

That's quite the counterfactual and thought exercise. We don't know really how this magic or the telepathy works. Your assumption that Kurosawa's thoughts could only be disingenuous is the bridge too far for me. Doesn't matter though. Safe to say, Kurosawa is not a magician. :)
Yes i never thought kurosawa is a virgin.. I don't know why some people think that?
BTW, the media have been reporting on Japan's ‘Virginity Crisis’, telling us that young people have stopped having sex and the country is dying. So, there's that? (For the record, I'm rather skeptical.)

Oh, I see. That's interesting. I don't think he's a magician, but a lot of people are wondering why Kurosawa seemed to accept Adachi's confession about the magic so readily. Hmmm.
That last part about assuming Kurosawa would be a manipulator in that case, I don't quite follow. Seems like an unnecessary leap in the logic. With or without magic, Kurosawa is super perceptive and using that insight doesn't making him manipulative. Also, Adachi doesn't understand himself, so reading his thoughts would just be frustrating and unreliable, I think. Kurosawa would understand that.
Maybe I'm in the minority, but I don't think keeping the magic a secret is wrong, selfish, dishonest, or manipulative. As long as you're conscientious and restrained. "With great power, comes great responsibility." Again, just my two cents.

Experience is great, but often overrated. Being passionate and present for the person in front of you and also generally confident -- that's what matters more. Just my two cents.

It's a big assumption, for sure, but not entirely implausible. Not all first-timers are awkward and shy. Some people are confident and highly motivated and they can just hit the ground running with no experience.
Also, we saw Kurosawa rejecting advances from women in his younger days. (None of them said the magic words "Open Sesame".) He seemed to have his guard up. More recently, he was utterly devoted to Adachi and not having relations. That's safe to assume.
