I'm so frustrated tbh. I can't express myself well but I'm massively blaming youku here. Seven had done dramas with tencent, iqiyi, and mango, and they all managed to get a TV slot for her, and all her dramas end up top rating of the year, but youku can't even managed to get 1 TV slot for shu brocade? It was the same with Dear Mayang Street too. DMS has so many potential, it was literally TV audience fav genre, but youku ruined it by airing Dear Mayang Street as web drama.

And now Shu brocade end up a web drama too? If this drama is really going for web airing only, so what's the point of being secretive and being strict with reuters? They might as well let fans take reuters pictures so people can promote the drama early. Web dramas depend on reuters hype, while TV is more low key, they should just go all out promoting like web drama if they just end up airing shujin on youku platform only. There is not even netflix rumours for shujin, I'm just fuming here with youku.

That's what I feared. That shujin end up as only a web drama. Which is quite a waste, just like dear mayang street end up a waste for youku to air it as a web drama when the whole genre and plan was for dear mayang to air on TV. I'm so done with youku wasting seven's dramas everytime. We know her strength is TV audience/rating, most of her dramas did great on TV. She is more of a TV star than traffic who usually excel on web.

But tbf, none of Seven's dramas airing on a very good favorable time schedule. They just end up getting good results hence people thought it was a good airing time when honestly sometimes the time clashes with hit dramas of the year. Like last year both Flight to You and Road Home were against Zhang Yi's hit dramas, the same with Master of My Own too. Even ABAY airing time was not that favorable, the previous drama aired was on downward trend. Same with Road Home last year, that airing time was messy, but they just end up doing better than all the dramas airing in hunan.

Thank you for the summary. Saves my time scrolling wb. This year end schedule is too competitive, both TV and online. It feels like all platforms dropping their dramas at once, and TV slots are highly sought esp by favorable genres. I can only hope they save a TV slot for shujin in cctv because I also cant see them satellite TVs taking another historical drama with the same theme after PG.

If PG did well in TV ratings, maybe they would take shujin into consideration, but it didnt, they could come into conclusion that the theme is not popular with TV audience and skip shujin which i could only put my hope to cctv picking up shujin.

My guess is Youku shifted shujin with PG. PG time slot now with 3 satellite TVs was for shujin because of the casts, and PG time slot was given to shujin which if that airing time did not even acquire TV slot, it would be fine because PG casts excel with online viewers. But shujin would get the short end of stick if that airing time does not gain TV slot because shujin feel like is catered for TV viewers while PG is catered for online viewers.

I dont know either, there is still no melon about shujin airing on TV.

Yeah, if shujin really end up with no TV slot by the time they air in the end of nov, I would assume that they really changed the the airing time schedule with PG. Because we know PG casts main strength is online views, their dramas usually aired online only. While Seven's strength is TV audience. Since this time slot has 3 satellite tv schedule, and hi6 just aired shujin promo, the probability that the initial schedule the 3 satellite tv slots were for shujin.

And if shujin air with no tv slot end nov, the probability that it was initially for PG is high because even if PG has no TV slot, they will still rake in online views because the casts excel with online viewers.

I feel like there will be some changes in the drama. Apparently the script has gone several 9? or 10? correct me if i'm wrong since i read about this way back last year when they started filming, but the script has gone several renovations since 2021.

They deemed the novel incomplete, and has many plot holes, which i would assume they probably had fixed the inconsistencies, hence why Seven accepted the script.

Sometimes i wonder if shujin was initially slated for PG time schedule since their hi6 ep is aired at this time, hence i wonder if shujin initially had those satellite tv schedules planned for them.

I'm not a fan of modern drama too, but Go Ahead is an exception. Actually, I can only watch modern cdrama when the actress is Seven. Other that, it's hard for me.

Try Go Ahead first. There is a reason why that drama is highly rated.

I'm sorry, but As Beautiful As You has the highest rating currently for Hunan TV in 2024. I know male lead has big pull for international audience, but the way you completely disregarded Seven's contribution in the drama irked me. Seven has large drama followings especially from TV audience in china, and her drama has never flopped yet. She has big contribution in ABAY being Top 1 rating in Hunan TV and that is with basis because this is her 3rd drama being Top 1 cvb annually in Hunan TV. Last year she won the championship with Road Home, and in 2020, she won Hunan TV history rating with Go Ahead with no other drama has broken the cvb rating record yet in satellite TV. And she does not only win TV rating championship in Hunan TV, her other dramas that aired in other channel also placed 3rd annually in Dragon TV in 2022, and Flight to You Top 4 for CCTV 8 channel in 2023. As much as you disregarded Seven, she has major contribution in ABAY achievements too especially in ABAY being Top 1 cvb rating in Hunan TV. Dont disregard Seven's name, her name has value that if she starred in a drama, that drama is good.

Seven needs to act in a Mango drama again for how supportive they are of every Seven's dramas. I wish she takes some Mango project at least. It has been so long.

On another note, Youku has done Seven dirty with all 3 dramas she had worked in under the banner. Under the Mayang Street was supposed to air on TV, it was filmed with TV airing in mind, but because Youku was impatient after GA success, they just released the drama online, which is a waste because Mayang street target audience was TV viewers. Master of My Own was the same, the drama only get their TV slot because of the production company (xinli?) which is famous in booking TV slot.

As for Youku, they just air dropped MoMO. I'm blindly trusting Seven here that she will deliver with quality acting and script because Youku sucks.

The Sword and the Brocade is Jin Xin Si Yu, meanwhile Brocade Odyssey is Shujin Renjia. They just have brocade (jin) in their title, but the drama's themes are totally different. Just like Seven also have another period drama with jin (brocade) in it which is Jinyi Jixia, but the English title is Under the Power. All the 3 costume dramas have different themes eventhough it has jin(brocade) in the chinese title.

I cant wait for this drama ahhhhhh. I hope the osts will be good😭

Huhhh I kinda want Seven to act in Mango/Huace produced drama instead. It has been so long since she acts in Mango which is ironic because Mango clearly likes her.

There were many rumours that Pearl Girl script was incomplete when it was first offered to Seven (it was a short novel). There was also talks that the script undergoes changes after Seven rejected them, and it was still under preparation even after Lusi accepted them. Actually, Blossom in Adversity (xihuazhi), Pearl Girl (zhulian), and Peony all were first rumoured to be Seven, but she accepted Shu Brocade in the end. These 4 dramas have similar theme, and all the other 3 dramas rumours were up before Shu Brocade. I think Blossom in adversity and Pearl Girl rumours about Seven came up in 2021-2022, and Peony was around early 2023. Way before Shu brocade rumours came up.

Indeed. I'm a bit petty because all of these dramas have rumours offered to Seven first but she rejected them for Shu brocade. And now this happened.. sigh

I just want Seven costume drama, it has been so long.

Since they put Zhang Haowei as 3rd male, there is a big chance he is playing the childhood lover sigh...
