OMG! I LOVE IT!!!
Only seen 1 episode yet but it's my 20's and kinda 30's.
Hilarious, realistic, relatable.
It's showing lgbtq representation, not BL.
I'm so impressed. I was not expecting this from Korea, maybe in a movie but not a series.
And it's normal length episodes, not the 15- to max 30 min that they usually only give something bl or lgbtq.
And it's not straight-washed and censured or childish... man, my expectations was low but this is seriously very good this far.
I mean I hardly ever laugh out loud and don't really like comedy but this was relatable real and funny moments.
GOOD WORK KOREA! PLEASE KEEP IT UP!

Fr the same happens with chinese series when they say gege or ge, sometimes they translate it to brothers but…
For people not understanding the usage of "hyung" him saying "Why don't you call me brother anymore" might seem like he doesn't because he is in love and don't want to call him "brother" but then comes the kiss scene with him wanting him to call him "brother" and I can only imagine how weird all this must seem.
Had they instead written "hyung" in the subtitles then people would have gotten more of the gist of how it's used and could have looked it up further but people would automatically pick up when and how it's used.

I see people who has been into kpop groups for years who still think "hyung" means they see the person as an actual biological older brother or that it's like saying "bro".
And I mean in a way it can be both but also "you" or said about yourself instead of "me" if you are older and it can be said flirtingly to your older boyfriend and so on and on.

Often the usage of "hyung" and other honorifics and how they change throughout relationships have such a big part in the story so when they translate to different english words or remove them it just takes so much away from the story.

Like in another bl drama a guy said to a younger guy he was interested in that he could call him hyung but the younger guy kept calling him sunbae but he called his older guy friend hyung.
Then later when the first two got closer he called him hyung and it was a big deal and he looked so happy like they were getting closer and like it was in this case a confirmation of interest too.
Later when they got more intimate when dating he really liked being called hyung.
If you use "brother" or "older brother" instead of "hyung" in the eng subtitles it doesn't make sense and it just seems like the guy has an incest kink and if translate the hyung to "bro" it seems both not very respectful but also like friendzoning and also don't make sense.
If you just remove it then you remove a huge part of the story that shows the development of the relationship.

I'm sorry for my rants but when I'm watching kdramas, things in kpop and other kmedia with English subtitles I can only think how much context people are missing, how misleading the eng translation can be and how confused people must get.

I really really really want all translators to start leaving the honorifics in the subtitles and just romanize them and then also just put [informal] and maybe [informal & not using honorifics] over subtitles said in banmal when it's to someone where they should speak formally etc.
Because eng doesn't really have formal speech but then you get why someone gets offended etc.
I mean just the same as you would over something else that needs context because it doesn't fully translate like when things is said in accent or in "a mafia way of speaking" you can just put [Busan accent] or like [using gang slang/way of speaking] over the subtitles.

People would learn about formal speech and honorifics the first time they watch anything then and it would not take long for them to learn how it's used.
It also gives much more insight to the culture and behaviour in general.
But instead almost every english translation of korean media everywhere translate and remove it and people who have watched Korean media for years are still getting confused. It doesn't make sense to me that translators doesn't understand that they are just doing people a disservice.

I'm really hoping for a change soon.

CAN EVERYONE JUST STOP WITH TRANSLATING HYUNG TO BROTHER!
Stop translating honorifics.
It drives me crazy how they use "brother" in the subtitles to try and convey how Ho Tae doesn't speak to Dong Hui as if he is older. It will just confuse the hell out of people who don't understand Korean and Korean culture.
It makes it seem like he is saying something completely different, as if he wants to be seen as an brother.
Why not just use "hyung" like "Why don't you call me hyung anymore" and speak formally, not using banmal etc.
If we all can learn and understand when- and how english honorifics etc like Mr, Mrs, Dr. etc are used then people just as easily can learn Korean ones.
The subtitles really bothers me in this case. "Brother" is not used like that in Eng and totally changes the meaning of what is actually happening and said in these scenes.
If you just romanize the honorifics and write "don't speak informal/banmal to me" then people learn and the scenes will make sense. People learn it so quickly but translating it to brother just causes misinterpretations and misunderstandings. I see it all the time, people being confused, year after year and still people keep translating or removing honorifics instead of just romanizing and keeping the Korean honorifics in the English subtitles.

Sorry for the rant but it really annoys me more and more, it was "ok", understandable when it was rare to find translations at all but now with K-dramas etc being so big they should no longer translate or remove honorifics.
Just romanize them and leave them in!

Vol 4 ep 2. Yes please give us a thruple!!! The 3 are so good together. Sweet caring and fun and hot.

2J, sorry but never liked you as a couple and it haven't changed. I think it would be much better if they had split up.

Jae Jun's character is much more fun and interesting now though but 2J together just feels off and like it's making both of them less fun to watch.

It makes me sick to see people over and over call sexual assault and torture "bullying" in this drama. Even the victim called it bullying.
There were lots and lots of bullying and mental and physical abuse going on but also lots of sexual abuse and torture and that is not just bullying.
On Living with Him May 24, 2024
Seemed sweet from the beginning but after ep 1 it just feels like they try to get through 8 ep's without anything actually happening. It hasn't really moved forward and every ep is just basically the same frustrating thing happening over and over again.

I just don't get why they stopped completely the first night.
Had it been me bringing home another top unknowingly and already gotten as far as getting out a condom before realizing, we would still do stuff, just not that. I mean sex is more than penetration and I would still wanna get off.
It was just a hookup, they weren't deciding if they were going to date or not.
And ofcourse I don't mean I force or pressure the other person to continue but honestly I would be surprised if the other person wouldn't also wanna continue doing stuff.
Then later I can make noodles too.
On Tell Me What You Saw Apr 23, 2024
I have to drop it after ep 1. The characters are either stupid or ridiculous or both.
It feels like silly children's comics characters.
What's with the extremely bad and long evil villain laughs and showing the chameleon 100 times, it's overly theatrical and silly, over the top but still tries to come off as mysterious and cool?
On At 25:00, in Akasaka Apr 21, 2024
So Shirasaki Yuki feels he has to go to a gay bar to get experience and have sex with a guy to be able to play the role. If he later gets the role of a serial killer he is gonna go on a killing spree??
He is supposed to be an actor, sure research but you do not need to go even beyond method.
Also he is supposed to be an actor but can't even act the slightest bit confident or likable around people?
And the "kiss", why did the Niihara Taisuke and Komagine Kiita (the real actors) sign up on acting in a BL or any drama with kissing in the script if they can't even kiss properly?
It's terrible acting to just statue like lean in, just enough so the lips meet but not enough to be pushed together and then just completely emotionless freeze like that. That is not what kissing looks like, that's not even a peck.
It's as if someone were to do a scene where the character is supposed to cry but instead they don't move a muscle in their face, just say one emotionless "hu" then nothing, no tears, no emotion, nothing.

Title Night Dream Spoiler
Just no.
I don't like the character Night and on top of that the actorOhm was so off beat with his acting.
I feel sad that Day and Dream didn't end up together, I felt bad that Dream ended up with Night.
I see no appeal or reason for Dream to like Night and Night acted so both mean and unthoughtful toward everyone. I'm sorry he had a hard time with school, his dad and accepting his sexuality but hurting everyone and stringing him along and getting in between them etc is not right.
This series had potential but the off beat acting and some just slow storytelling and unlikable character just made it frustrating and depressing and the end felt both cringe and like the wrong people ended up together.

Is there anywhere to watch this with the laugh track removed?
It is so loud and it also just takes you out of the scenes.
It feels like you are watching a series about an actor on set and just waiting for him to get out of character and off set and the actual story to begin. The scenes outside with a studio laugh track doesn't even make sense. Really bad choice to put a laugh track and sound effects.
Laugh tracks and sound effects really is the best way to ruin a series and make it feel amature and tacky.

On Love Class Season 2 Oct 9, 2023
Casting main actors for multiple kiss scenes when they don't kiss but just do the dead fish lips together ruins the series as much as if it had been multiple emotional crying scenes and the actors would just freeze their face in a grimasch and stand still posing all quiet.
It looks ridiculous and ruins whatever chemistry and emotion you felt between them before.
It's better then to cut before the lips even meet or have them just giving eachother pecks and then close the a door on the camera or have them hold a hand between and kiss the hand instead and film it from an angel where you can't tell but you see movement and get some sound.

Really disappointing that such bad acting is put in when the acting otherwise was good.

The other two couples had great chemistry and kiss scenes though.

The boom mic showing so much in 2 scenes and not cut out in editing was also surprisingly bad.

I do like the series, but as I wrote a long time ago, things are getting really bad for the actors. The production…
I don't think this is anything like porn. Far from it. I think the scenes have been tastefully shot without showing too much.

Maybe it's because I'm not a teen or young adult but an older millennial and have lived but I feel like this is very relatable. It's def like my early 20's and mid 20's but in the comments here some people make it seem like the plot/relationships are so out there.
Anyway, I really liked the first episode!
On Be Mine SuperStar Jul 25, 2023
I can't with the Punn character. Can't watch this. The acting is not good and the character just feels creepy and inappropriate.
It's like they put a grown man to play a child but also do it as if to show he is acting... and doing it bad.
It's like a children doing a play in school, not like acting by an actual actor in a series or movie. It doesn't look believable, not for a second. And even if he would nail the acting, is he supposed to be like a young child or mentally like a young child??? Either way it feels inappropriate and doesn't change that the acting is bad.
I'm not meaning to be mean to the actor but it feels he would suit something more sit com like with more obvious acting not something that is meant to look realistic. Ja's acting kinda suits the managers overacting for comedy more but isn't good and it's not funny.
First acting looks realistic and the 2 male supportive roles acts much more believable and real too so I do not know why they would cast Ja for this.
I would love to see First in something more serious and mature and paired with someone else.
