Now... can someone please tell me, what is going on? The rating seems pretty high, so, no matter on what side…
Hi there 👋! My take: I feel like the best parts of the serries was in the pilot. It was a solid concept but like most shows somewhere between the pilot and the actual show the creative team decided to play it safe. It's a shame because I really think Est and William are good actors. But it was made cliche, and boring. Don't misunderstand- I'm still enjoying watching it. But I can acknowledge it's not the groundbreaking show I was hoping for. Additionally I was excited to see more of Barcode - he was excellent in DFF. But the secondary pairing (which was supposed to be pivotal to the main pairing's plot) is not as well written as it could be. And lastly-and I recognize I'm going to get hate for this- I feel like this role is too mature for William. He's still young and it's basically his second part (I don't count his role in Thee&Me it was mostly cameo.) And he's been a lead for both roles. Not that he's not capable of it, but he doesn't have enough life experience to bring the depth needed for this kind of character. I don't blame William for this, it's my opinion that the powers that be relied too much on WE popularity and didn't bother giving decent coaching. I mean they wrote a playboy who's the nicest guy ever, stays friends with his ex's, but I'm supposed to believe he's a red flag? He's barely a shade of pink. As for Est....sigh. I'm tired of seeing him be given roles where he has to stand around looking moody. I can't tell if that's what he was told to do or if he really only has one default character. There are moments that I'm like, "Wow. He's really good." I get goosebumps. But generally he has one expression, and mostly stands around looking handsome. To be fair - I've noticed this about A LOT of gmm series. Their characters tend to be stereotypical and two dimensional.
Again. I'm enjoying watching it, and I can see myself enjoying multiple times down the road. But it's just not what the pilot promised.
Confused. Most of the "cast" are teens or young actors. Then there's Porche. I know he's still a new actor, but MDL says his age is 30????? Why is he on a show with a bunch of kids?
This is the absolute definition of "plot, what plot?" It's one hour long, and has the depth of a teaspoon of water. Spoilers ahead. It's about 4 men who are employed at the same building. An aged security guard, an office worker, a counselor, and a maintenance worker. Security guy likes the office worker, office worker likes the counselor, the counselor likes the security guard. The maintenance guy also likes the counselor. There's a lot of trying to match-make-for-my-crush, until the end where everyone has a happy ending - in all the ways that can mean. That's it. That's the plot. It's essentially soft core p*rn, the type that only Japan can produce. I will say, given that the so called "plot" exists only to give excuse for NC scenes, there's a lot the viewers should just "go with". Absolute breaking of medical ethics, serious unprofessional behavior, and an age gap that kinda feels a little icky. BUT it's clear all the actors are adults, and if you watch it at face value, then....it's kinda hot. It that weird way Japan makes these types of videos.
