Excited for the drama but confused why Kim Jae Wook’s last 3 dramas have been support roles; he is a bonafide leading man so these recent choices seem regressive. I’m fairly certain Her Private Life and Crazy Love were successful so I don’t understand this at all. Nevertheless, will definitely watch this drama!!
Pretty good, though having read the novel it’s kinda egregious they just removed the lead police character of the book who is a female cop. Despite that, still a good crime drama. Reminds me of the ones that used to air on OCN. Both MLs here are great. Solid 8/10
Very cookie cutter romcom. Like it’s straight from a factory. Generic, bland, cliche, escapist but not engrossing. Very few will remember this one in a year unless the actors are your fav. One positive was that the second leads story was pretty fun. Iiked that dynamic way more.
I will say it is interesting that this is one of the few Kdrama’s where the fl likes the 2ml more than the ml. They leave it open ended in the last ep but I found it refreshing that the ml and fl didn’t end up together as one would think. It’ll be interesting if there is a second season where they go; I just hope the writing is better.
Netflix produced dramas that are of the 6-8 episode variety usually feel unsatisfying because they always ask show runners to leave the door open for a second season and insist on open endings. It’s what makes Netflix produced Kdrama’s so underwhelming. The Glory is the only one I can think of that got 16 episodes; yes they released it in two parts, but they were filmed back to back. Hierarchy would have benefited with something similar. I doubt this will get a second season, the same with Parasyte the Grey , A Killer Paradox and other netflix produced Kdrama’s, even though tease a second one.
Go Kyung Pyo is definitely capable of being a ML but his choice in dramas is really concerning. Another miss from him. It’s evident pretty early on that this drama is aimless and lacks any coherence; the main pairing is actually nice but not enough to keep viewers hooked. Just an uninspired mess.
The VFX was pretty flimsy and the episodic nature of the drama can get repetitive but I really liked the chemistry between the leads; it is so nice to watch a Kdrama where the FL does most of the chasing and loves the ML. I usually find that most FL’s don’t reciprocate the feelings back but here it was refreshing. I finished it because of how much I liked this pair. It’s worth watching just for the romance but the stuff around is meh though.
After the clusterfuck that was Grid, I thought the screenwriter learnt where she went wrong there, but apparently not. I doubt this will get a second season and I’m prone to believe that Stranger was a fluke by this screenwriter; she has more misses than hits now.
I also think sci-fi is the one genre Kdrama’s really can’t get right. So many mid or bad ones; Alice, Grid, Rugal, Memories of Alhambra, Sisyphus, etc.
Blood Free started well but the ending was rushed and convoluted imo.
The ML character is a bit bland in this one. His only purpose is to support fl. Seems like a waste of JCW but I guess he wanted something low key after all taxing role in worst of evil.
back to back all the latest drama with ML waiting throughout their lives for the FL has become trend in the C-drama…
It’s probably because most of these shows are written by women and targeted to women; male lead is usually eye candy, does all the chasing and serves the fl. It’s the Cinderella formula- Kdrama of tough, hardworking fl who gets recognized by rich ml or strong girl boss who can’t comprehend that ml likes her.
This is definitely Ji Chang Wook’s best drama since Healer. Gritty, bleak and bitter. Loved the ending. I thought this drama was also a good showcase for Im Se Mi. She should definitely get more prominent roles after this; she definitely held her own.
Finally watched it and I quite liked it. I really liked seeing a kdrama with a rich/famous fl and just an ordinary…
Regarding the ending, I definitely interpret it as a happy one. Those little vignettes in the beginning allude very blatantly that they are still seeing each other. It’s not satisfying but it’s still a “happy” ending imo.
Finally watched it and I quite liked it. I really liked seeing a kdrama with a rich/famous fl and just an ordinary ml. Nice to see them reverse things and i quite liked the dynamic. I think if it was a regular 16 ep drama the characters would have been better developed and it wouldn’t have felt jarring because some of the scene transitions here are jarring. Overall I still liked it. The current 8.1/10 is a fair rating
Wow. This might get dumped on an OTT in the future because it’s been done filming a while and still no news. Reminds me other dramas that have filmed years ago and are in limbo like Bad memory eraser and Bloody Romance.
This is such a good pairing and I hope it doesn’t go to waste.
Lowkey a disappointing drama. I wish it focused more on the ML’s illness and the melodrama. It has all the ingredients but it misfires and the supporting characters feel very disconnected from the leads.
Park Hae Jin is so good in this drama. He should definitely stick to this genre in the future. I also really like the dynamic between ml and fl. Not romantic at all but a good partnership.
Honestly for some reason, the fact that no one died bugs me. In a story like this, death is inevitable for so many and yet none of the main characters died. Undermines the stakes a bit for me. Action scenes are impressive for a tv show but character and story were lacking. 7.5/10
