Been a long time since it was fun to speculate what’s going to happen next. Really loving the drama though it’s…
Charles is definitely suspicious and my pick for the culprit. In Sung is definitely one of the kids but not the killer. The shaman lady, producer juror and the ml’s mom will die by the end; that’s my prediction. I think RSH may also die though I’m certain he’s not the killer.

I will say it’s refreshing albeit slightly frustrating that the ML is not that smart. He is way too dense to be a detective irl. Like I literally chuckled in ep 8 when his brother asked how he reached such an unscientific and illogical conclusion.
The ML not being the smartest person in the drama is a welcome from the usual dramas where the ML is brilliant and outwits everyone. It makes the drama stand apart from something like Memorist or Awaken. Though I wish he was a little smarter lol.
The brother though - the judge I think is a great character. The actor has done a good job portraying him.
All the jurors are involved in the events of 20 years ago be it directly or indirectly. I wonder how Eun Ki factors into it? Her mother being involved possibly.
Charles and In Sung are the most suspicious imo. They’ve teased In Sung being suspicious but the Charles one is even more subtle. He reacted very interestingly in one of the earlier episodes when the shaman lady says that the ml detective was scared of dogs; it was a brief moment but his face was captivated when he heard that. In Sung and Charles - one of them is definitely one of the boys who tried to escape in the flashbacks or maybe both are but one is the killer.
I don’t think that either brother is the killer and Sung Hoon acting suspicious is just a red herring; I think both of them were some of the kids from the flashbacks. I think Sung Hoon is the boy in the flashbacks who is protective of Yoon Jae. Idk if he remembers his childhood but when they’re watching the stream of Juror 9 getting hung he watches his brother carefully when juror 9 pleads Yoon Jae to stop. I think he believes his brother is innocent and is trying to figure it out on his own causing a big misunderstanding.
The shaman lady and the producer juror are definitely the next two to go.
Also not expecting any romance but Eun Ki and Sung Joon have great chemistry and I like the scenes of them together.
Hmm kind of. Nothing official; there is definitely some feelings between some of the characters but I don’t know if it’ll amount to anything. Next few episodes will answer this question better.
Loved the drama. But someone please answer this questions. Is being member of genie a paid gig? If not, how on…
Well he lives there, doesn’t pay rent, eats free food so it seems like a good deal to me. It’s voluntary so he doesn’t get paid. Probably not feasible in the real world.
Started this drama a year ago and never forgot it. It stuck with me and I’ve watched it twice in full. Rare to find a drama this grounded and poignant. Even the secondary and tertiary characters are fleshed out and given dimension. It’s a beautiful gem.
I liked it. Villains were annoying but the leads had chemistry and thankfully the romance isn’t the main point so it’s not icky. The age gap is evident but by the end they’re both adults so if it bothers you that probably a you problem.
It’s not perfect but it’s been so long since there was a good crime/murder mystery drama. Last decent one…
The Juror with the glasses is very suspicious. He might be one of the young boys. He told Eun Ki he also thought ml was innocent and lied about this profession to the other jurors.
The chef, Charles also had an interesting reaction when the jurors are told the ml is sacred of dogs. The camera stayed on him for an extra second which makes me suspicious.
Also unknown if the ml’s brother is also adopted and is one of the boys. I think he maybe is and is the boy that escaped but the cop returned him back in the flashback.
The big thing as well is if the killer knows that the ML is Yoon Jae. Maybe he thinks Yoon Jae is dead and is avenging him without knowing that the ml is him.
It’s not perfect but it’s been so long since there was a good crime/murder mystery drama. Last decent one was Chimera and before that the last great one was Beyond Evil. Really enjoying this one, intricate plot, intriguing characters and it nails the tone. Dark, bleak and suspenseful.
Well there’s more good stuff to this drama than bad. I liked the characters and their journeys. I didn’t like it as much as Chocolate which was a more somber and consistent drama. They’re both similar in that they take place in a hospice, have sad characters and romance is in the background. I thought chocolate was better but If You Wish Upon Me had a more satisfying ending . Solid 8/10.
I do feel like the drama is lacking in some aspects. It has such a good setup and character potential but doesn’t do anything good with it. It’s watchable but capable of so much more. Just my opinion.
Even if they somehow made a season 2 I wouldn’t watch it. It was a whacky ending and frustrating. Really liked the slow pacing and the build up but the end is whack and I would not recommend this to anyone unless you like useless open endings.
Funny how films like this, Burning, the films of Hong Sang-Soo and other acclaimed ones always have low ratings on MDL. People on this site definitely don’t know what they’re talking about- at least when it comes to films.
