FINALLY we didn't get a series that tried to drag it out for 16 trillion episodes only to fill it with filler scenes (looking at you disaster that was The Next Prince) but also didn't rush anything and everything felt complete. Every episode we got another layer of the onion peeled back.
Pond and Peterpan had this magnetic chemistry together right from episode one al the way through to the end and it grew so naturally that it actually felt realistic.
Bom really showed off his talent range in this series. In his first series his character was very serious and reserved and this one he really embraced the full out loon of the character. At first I thought he was overacting but after the revelations of the finale episode it really makes sense that we didn't get a more subtle decent into madness because it's been building for years beforehand.
2025 has definitely been VERY hit or miss for series, this one is a definitely hit and on the watch again list.
did we watch the same series? I’m left thinking 18-20 episodes would have been better ther was so much content…
You're absolutely right there there was a lot that could have been delved into deeper and that's a big part of the problem. They padded out so much of every episode with useless filler and the same repetitive dialogue every episode but then rushed or half did everything else only to drop it before really developing it.
More episodes isn't always better, sometimes being forced into a smaller amount of episodes and / or a movie format keeps the focus on the really important things and actually allows them to develop more.
This needed to either be a movie or at most a 3 part (6 hour) mini-series. Somehow in 14 agonizingly long episodes they managed to do a whole lot of nothing beyond scratch the surface of issues, only to drop them the next second and a whole lot of repetitive unnecessary filler scenes that most of the time didn't even flow together properly.
Granny, The Three Rascals, and Poom made this worth watching. There was zero chemistry between Poom and Saint despite Poom REALLY trying his hardest to pull it out every episode. Maybe it would have been better if someone else was cast as Jom, maybe it would have been better if Yo ended up falling for one of the three rascals (but then of course there would have been no NC / kissing). The whole thing was like they really didn't know what to do with it so they just tried a bit of everything and nothing really worked well.
Take 95% of the characters and chuck them in the fire, make Calvin and Jay the main leads, have the story being about a prince that secretly sneaks out amongst the people to try to fight for real change, change the name to "The Secret Prince". Have the shit hit the fan in the last 4-5 episodes where the royal family finds out what he's been up to and then give it a proper ending in any manner of different ways.
Boom there's your good series, not whatever this over hyped over budgeted fiasco ended up being.
So many people have commented about Hill's obsession with Yuka. The Associated Press just released this article today about teens / young adults and AI companions.
Alexander (Wenai) REALLY needs and deserves his own lead role in a series after this. Would love to see it be a series were Tada and Armin team up to help Wenai as a way to pay him back for everything he does for them.
Unpopular opinion (?): I would dump Tee for the Prince in a heartbeat. I thought Great was the one of the hottest…
Just playing devil's advocate here, it might be because he can't tan. For 40 years of my life I've gone from pasty white to burnt without tanning at all. It's only been in the past 4 years and largely because of medication I'm on that I've actually started to tan from the sun. I've known a lot of people that don't tan, just burn.
I do think a lot of it is supposed to be dirt / grim but yeah it does look rather fake at times.
Season one was amazing, season 2 was for shit, and season three was at least better than season 2. Season one had characters you actually wanted to see survive whereas that was severely lacking in the later seasons.
The first two episodes were good (when they were in London and Thailand) but boy once they hit Emmaly did this start to go down hill fast and just keeps going. Most of the episodes are nothing but unnecessary filler and fluff which leaves little to no time for character development. That's not even mentioning they end up having the same conversations every episode, sometimes multiple times in the same episode. Everything else is so pathetically predictable and juvenile.
Yes there would be formal royal attire for ceremonial purposes, but in 2025 no one is running around in 1800's clothing all day long. Hell if it wasn't for the red wig Nu would get lost in a sea of cream and filter.
Net and JJ got robbed, they had the most interesting storyline of them all and got no screentime or development.

Some people are just more resistant to tanning / burning than others. There's a lot of different factors in it.

The twists had twists in their twists with a side of twists
If there's going to be a season 2 it definitely can't come soon enough.
