Abt 30% romance, 20% awkward flirting with staring daggers vibes. But there's a lot of family love, friendship and loyalty displays I'd say. The best are the last 2 episodes where everything gets revealed and proves the leads were surprisingly smart, unlike how they let on before
I don't mean to bash the actors, but the ML is supposed to be incomparably handsome and the female lead is supposed to be adorable, but play a cold and mature character. IMO the Leo Wu's and Jiang Yi Yi's looks are not on that level and I'd be disappointed if they're chosen to play one of my favorite novel's main characters

Actually this is not my favorite book of Jiu Lu Fei Xiang, simply because I didn't really like how arrogant the ML was. FL practically begged him to admit he likes her, but he hasn't by the end of the book. Even acted like he made her a big favor by marring her. Lu Kang(his persona in their first lifetime) was the best.
To explain what happens: both should technically drink the Soup of Oblivion before being reincarnated on Earth. So when they drink the soup, they think they're just normal humans and don't remember anything prior(their lives as immortals or previous lives on Earth). But in some timelines one of them drinks it and the other does not:
1st life: FL remembers and protects clueless ML. ML is so sweet here. I wish this could be his default personality, but other than this lifetime, he's a tsundere. Here the ML develops strong feelings for her, having fallen for the real her, but is in denial in the later lifetimes.
2nd life: Only ML remembers and he made FL drink too much of that Oblivion Soup, which turned her stupid in that life smh. He's her shifu(master) and MC is mentally disabled and innocent.
3rd life: A gimmicky life as a tiger and boar - sets the scene for the antagonist.
4th life: Both remember but their genders are switched.
Lives 5-6: Both remember and are sent to take down the antagonist of the series. Male lead's soul is scattered.
Life 7: FL remembers and needs to protect and raise the male lead so that he can become an immortal again.
More stuff happens and they end up together in the Heavenly Realm as Immortals.
