All needed was buy some time , kess than an year to finish school, take exam to get into college... her teacher could have supported her with filing case with police , couldnt she have? Why didnt FL or ML tell that female teacher whay exactly happened...
Wang ying lu is doing a phenomenal job.... not just a pretty face.....sometimes pretty looks come in the way of playing serious roles .good for her, she is not trapped in that manner .

And the main leads mother...till the point i watched drama , it was said she comminted suicide after fathers death .. i assumed , given the nature of MLs fathers death , and her being emoress dowagers niece and the amount of danger their family was in at that point, maybe she died to draw sympathy and ensure emperor spares her children and shows some pity. When i read the novel , she died because she was a delicate lady who couldn't handle loss as it was the 1st time she experienced. And before she dies, she accuses her barely 15/16 yrs old son Xiao jue as response for his fathers death and it is his fault and goes ahead commits suicide.. what a stupid stupid lady.... the whole scene and there after really breaks your heart for ML...
Reading novel and watching drama, i wonder on one question.why the He family and later Xu family(she married into] has such contempt towards her. She is a heroine isnt , won wars , helped protect their kingdom... more so He family, she is responsible for them to recover from decline.. no gratefulness, but why intense hatered... they seem to treat eachother and other kids well, this hate only reserved for He yan... so sad!!!

In novel, isnt that what got him to suspect her in first instance.. her footwork , maneuvers befitting vanguard team member later setting up formations , breaking them..showing level of skill in weapons in extreme short time.that shouldn'thv exhited in new recruits , more so because of her age and body frame.. that what triggers alarm in xiao jun camp
Both he yan and xiao jun has similar life trajectories.... he yan's much sadder.. both pushed into their roles , (her - to substitute for her cousin and him - to pick up family legacy that his brother couldn't...and him sent off into mountains at young age to learn from sages.. where he suffered immensely, but gives off stock 'all well' responses when asked.) Her living as a male , staying away from people and activities that could expose her ... (her)experiencing no love from her birth parents and indifference/harshness from uncle , whose son she pretends to be...(him) strict military father , ideologically different mother who hates violence and hates him going into military, and later on doesnt know how to relate or engage him or show love... from such lives they meet in the academy...him , already seen extreme harshness by then, and her , not so much other than pretending to be boy.. spend a year as classmates.. and she runs off to join army to escape a 'engagement' to a young lady... and toils like nobodys business amd rises up the rank..and he, joins at 16 and becomes commander shortly after ,when his father dies.. the life post that changes him into a cold icy person (he was same before but had a hint of playfulness) .. her , she rises, but loses it all in a power game..pushed back to take up her original gender, forcibly robbed off her role, title , awards rewards , her life as a general ... everything she earned with her sweat and blood...and then, married off, blinded ..and then finally killed off.. She had it extremely bad, ..him , not as bad , but still a very difficult life

Reference to their time at academy(him carrying osthumus candies all tge time then,) her identifying the method of camouflage style of writing that xiao juns father invented , saying she wore masks , she was a general once , they met each other before , her birthday date.. is she doing it purposefully trying to tell him her story (who she is) or saying it randomly thinking he may not join the dots. She said a lot. For someone as smart as xiao jun , arent these enough of hint - met before, candies , mask, general ... to know who she is hinting at.. didnt he say himself he rufei changed so drastically from the classmate he knew
I like how with one scene drama team concluded how and why xiao jue suspects he yan and starts investigting her background. There are whole couple of chapters leading up to his suspecting her... basically she overdoes things to gain his recognition... skills beyond a new recruits paygrade.. tactics she shouldnt have known .. maneuvers she should not have been experienced in.. battle tactics.. when she starts exhibiting real soldier/ general skills while in her new recruits training- horse wishpering, settung up and breaking (battle) formations , quick foot work, showcasing weapon skills too soon , the level that doesnt comes within days.. all this leads to him and his leadership team suspecting her ...
In drama, they showed 1 scene where the way she tames a wild horse starts xiao jun and team to suspect....
Drama team is showing huge talent in squeezing in novel essense in minimum episodes.. if not for anything they deserve an award for job well done.šš
