Title Vincenzo Spoiler
Why there shouldn't be a season 2~
To be honest, the ending was realistic, and is a sad ending with some hope that they will visit each other and meet again. Cha-Young is very clear-headed and smart. They could stick it out, but if Cha-Young knows its going nowhere, they both understand they will have to break it off, and Cha-Young will be able to move on with her life over time with her career. Vincenzo doesn't belong in South Korea, and he has to face his crimes by being on the run. Cha-Young is a lawyer with a career in SK, what do you expect her to do in Malta?
To me, Malta is also a vision, a fantasy, such as how the reference of Chilseok (bird bridge) is shown through the Korea-Italy Diplomatic Relations Celebration.

Personally, I also don't like the idea that there should be a wedding and kids. This doesn't really make sense for this couple, and I usually think its a hasty wrap to romance shows which doesn't make it memorable. The relationship stands out because of their mutual respect and understanding.

As for having it be a rom-com~though the kisses are often brought up as a significant point, it is a significant point for a reason, that it cumulates to that scene. What we enjoy seeing is the little moments between them and their work ethic and relationship, with sideline romance progressing along, I guarantee if we were to have a season 2, it just wouldn't work out great.

As for the plot, whatever it continues into (whether there's another big boss in Korea or in Malta, or revenge once again in Italy) will undermine the gravity, the weight of the ending of the show, and make it meaningless. Plus, I would say that generally a show that is only planned out for one season doesn't deliver well on an added season. I would hate to see a drastic change in ratings. Because the romance would completely be served, it would also undermine the chemistry.

I think Season 1 wrapped up well-plus expectations won't live up since the idea is to see a continuation, but it hasn't been thought out on how it will go on. The themes are really important in Vincenzo.

Oh wow, do you know why Netflix deleted the scene? I had no idea until just now.
The scene had a product placement of a bibimbap brand that was Chinese, not Korean. (Chinese and Korean netizens are in quite a tense conflict currently on the topic of culture origination)

One chapter in, I can say I'm already obsessed. Song Joong Ki acting is superb and I love everything. Also, I…
The hate mostly lasted for the first few episodes and then drifted off. Lots of people like her. Mostly it was because of the stark contrast between South Korea and Italy as represented (from serious to comical)
Kinda interesting how you got hooked on the first ep, took me 4.

Basically Vincenzo tells Cha-Young that villains don't deserve to love and then she asks him if he feels he deserves…
Thank you!

By the way, does anyone still remember the conversation between Vincenzo and Cha-Young in the deleted bibimbap scene in episode 8? I forgot myself.

Is there a love triangle of any kind? (I don't mind spoilers)
One-sided, and not a focus. Isn't part of the plot, and never promoted.

I swear this show is just one big fan service. The plot wasn't all that interesting. It is basically "How many…
I can agree with that. I especially think Episode 8 was an extreme fan-service. But I thought the characters were very interesting, though the plot kind of looped itself.
So I did find it very entertaining. But I see why you wouldn't.

Overall I really enjoyed this and it was exciting to the end. I can't remember the last time I was this hyped…
Yeah, the scary aspect changed from the villains to ‘the future’ in the end.

I see people saying how Vincenzo could have saved both Hanseo and Chayoung, and it didn't make sense that Vincenzo…
Someone mentioned that a foreshadowing came in form of Episode 17 when Vincenzo and Han-Seo were playing hockey and Han-Seo said, 'Hong Cha-Young?" causing Vincenzo to become distracted and lose sight of the game. I don't know if it's true, but it kind of works and is pretty good consolation.
And yeah, I agree that he cared about Cha-Young much more than Han-Seo.
The problem's more how he died, not why he died, and why, Vincenzo, and why, scriptwriter.

I agree with almost everything you said, except about his past. I think his mafia past is a bit of a tool, and…
" it features this scary mafia guy doing everyday life stuff "-haha, didn't really think about that. It's kind of a good contrast for the epic scenes though, like the calm before a storm. (Or after).
This is more of consolation, but I've seen a theory that says that the balloon ticket part is when the Bye Bye Balloon owner gives him one one-way ticket, which doesn't mean he's going in bye bye ballon, but foreshadows that he will leave Korea alone, and it will be hard to come back (or that he will have to find other means to come back). I think that kind of makes sense, but this is just guesswork.
Well, the scriptwriter actually has a pretty good track record if you look at the ratings of his shows. It's not in extensive fluctuation (ofc, I don't know how seriously you can take it since every drama/movie score pn MDL is heavily inflated), but he has a pretty good rep in Korea. For me, he's been doing this style for a long time. I think the addition of a Mafia background is what is a foreign concept and hard to integrate with the usual Korean story-telling methods in K-Dramas. I would love to see him have some new concepts in upcoming/future works, however and not just stick to the cool/stylish/comedy (debated) writing, though it seems he's pretty welcome on that front.
Hm. Have you watched 'The King: Eternal Monarch'? I thought it was okay as a drama but I watched it a bit like when I'm daydreaming, as in I took in everything that happened but I left it with no particular feeling whatsoever-as in, I wasn't elated or disappointed, I just thought, I finished it.
That was one of the Netflix high-budget dramas as it starred Lee Min-Ho and Kim Go-Eun, and was set in parallel universes, so I guess it was pretty expensive. Plus it was helmed by a famous scriptwriter (forgot her name). Super welcome with Netflix internationally, but not in its home country.
Anyways, that was the only example I could think of, not to go off-topic. I haven't watched many K-Dramas, just started about half-a-year ago.

It kinda just hit me by the end of the show how all of us just collectively pretended how normal the Guillotine…
Haha, that’s true. So funny it actually wasn’t put into so much use in the middle and then boom in the end.

For me the gold issue was unresolved... Did the tenants get a share? Did he rebuild the plaza for them? So many…
Unresolved. We know HCY got a share, the monks got a share, the piano teacher got a share, definitely Vincenzo (he bought a damn island). (I forgot if anyone else helped) I would suspect Mr. Cho at least because he was with Vincenzo from the very start and I think there would definitely be a conflict if he didn't get it.
So far, it's all the people who knew about the gold, and the Geumga Plaza cast who helped out with moving it got the gold.
Many people are debating it too. However, the main motive of the Geumga Plaza members in the start was just to retain their plaza, not get the gold. They just learned about the gold rumors in the middle. I suppose it would be fairytale-like if everyone got a share.
I think
As for the plaza, it wasn't harmed, so it didn't have to be rebuilt (Unless you include construction costs of Vincenzo sending the man flying through a window at the end of Episode 18).
I don't think you can even tell if they got the gold or not, because, for example, the piano teacher just hid it in her piano, so I'd say life doesn't change for them, they just have a lot more savings if so.

i wish there were more episodes because everthing seemed rush. Still like it
Hohoho. Well, maybe in the end, some people would say they wished the villains were dealt with better (but the general consensus is that it could have been shorttened to 16-18 eps). I guess you're in the minority!
Lots of people want Season 2 , though.

I agree with almost everything you said, except about his past. I think his mafia past is a bit of a tool, and…
I agree, the reason why I mentioned a comic book is because they had to do full-on CGI Italy. The quality was great but to do this for a couple episodes straight would be hard to maintain and a huge amount of money. I did like their small talk. I thought it was a better breather than the comedy in between, and reminded me that even top-notch people have daily lives, small occurences unrecorded. As for the balloon, I was expecting it too. In a way I was happier because I didn't want everything I expected to happen. I also am more in favor of the dark monologue than a happy-to-go fly back on a balloon, but I suspect during the two week hiatus it was changed, which is why that was not put in (plus, I would be wondering how they're going to film it). Honestly, when Vincenzo was leaving the port, I half expected a hot air balloon to just be there.
I think it's already one of the biggest shows of the year for some of the barriers (like violence) that it broke in K-Dramas, just that it doesn't go down as one with flawless script quality. I enjoyed it even though I critique it. I think that's more close to a definition of a good drama to me, because I'd separate it as all-rounded done well and enjoyable. In this case it was more enjoyable, and I forget the perfect ones more easily. To like a drama and be able to see its flaws is a very enjoyable experience for me. Plus the disucssions! Thanks for replying.
