Yeah, nobody knows how to do the wistful heartstring-pulling like the Chinese. I honestly didn't notice the dubbing at all at first, and now I that I hear it it's super grating at times. I especially hate it, when they give the girl a squeaky high-pitched voice, when the actress in the BTS has a perfectly nice voice.
My first proper Cdrama was Love O2O, and I loved it, I also loved The Romance Of Tiger And Rose, but I sometimes…
Fall in Love is a Drama, where the heroine is a sensible adult, but... the guy is kind of immature? Can't escape that trope, haha... There is also a second lead couple, where the girl is a badass and the guy is a softy.
I thought static kisses were called 'dead fishing' because there are specific actors/actresses (lee min ho, park…
I get the feeling that this is just as far as these actresses are willing to go, which is fine. But then maybe, I don't know, at least close your eyes? That's normal reaction to a surprise kiss you didn't know you wanted or if you didn't want it, push his face away. They could also not focus on their lips, face but do a classic from the distance, from behind or whatever camerashot, so we get romantic gist of it without having to watch the atrocity of dead fish kiss.
I hate it when the FL does not fight back even when she’s mistreated by anyone . Don’t they have even a little…
Yeah, I hate that too. They always go along with everything, teary-eyed... I know this might be a fantasy for some shy girls, but not every single time. Often there not even an arc where they learn to assert themselves... I drop those shows now.
While I also hate the childhood - connection thing, because why? Some (almost all) of these work perfectly as two people who just met at the point when the drama starts. Most couples meet for the first time as adults, after all. I don't get this at all, is this a cultural trope? But what I hate the most, to the point that I will drop the drama, is the separation close to the end. This may be a nail biter the first time you watch a drama, but now it's just an eye-roller. If you want to show that the protagonists are growing, why seperately. Spend some episodes on that instead of the silly filler episodes with second lead drama. I would love to watch that, but I know that is the hardest to write. But I have seen it done, CDrama You're my Destiny did it extremely well.
Haha, I am glad you took the roller-coaster and kind of liked it. Like you at first I was rolling my eyes at Mue and her endless adoration, I only stuck around because I saw why she liked him so much, but I really liked her by the end. I loved how she directly addressed his bad behaviors and ambivalent situations.
I love everything about your review. I watched this drama a few weeks ago and I honestly can't let go of it. I…
I am glad you liked my review. This drama stuck with me for a long time and inspired me in real life too. I avoided Go Ahead, because it seemed a bit heavy for my current mood, would you recommend it?
You got me really curious. I love a food drama, but never heard of this, and the trailer would not entice me. It looks like a dark comedy, I would have thought the family ends up eating some of their guests... But now it's on my to-watch list.
Ok, so here is my problem with this: I don't like where this is going. If we say that we should not have any more…
I wish I could give you a hundred thumbs up. You don't need chiseled abs to be healthy and most diet plans (protein only) to achieve such a body are really hard on the kidneys.
Thanks for this article! It's true, this should be discussed. As much as I like looking at abs, the first time this happened, I was like "Woah, random shower scene!" and the actor did not look comfortable in that scene at all. I could feel the cringe through the screen. I am still surprised, how respectful they are of female actors nudity, like the most nakedness you get would be a cami or something, but men get full on naked, like I have seen naked butt-cheeks. I guess because their target audience are women? I can also see how some actors use their abs (and overall sexiness) to raise their fame and thus income, I am more worried if it's very young actors, because yes, here the situation is no different from making a young woman strip for a movie. I mean, their body is a main point of an actors job, but I wish there was a protocol to ensure they feel save to say Stop. In Western shows they now often have an intimacy coordinator who ensures the comfort-levels of the actors are adhered to. The objectification of actors in public is a whole different subject, I can't even imagine what that is like. Like they are still humans, you wouldn't randomly poke some strangers abs and ask about their body? Or when everyone takes out their phone and starts filming them on the street... it's part of what they wanted sure, but sometimes I just wonder if we can't just treat it like any other jobs. People do ask doctors for advice outside office hours if they meet them on the street, but they don't want a full on exam, right?
This took me way back to the time when I was your age and my incidentally two years younger best friend. I, of course, also had a bias (favourite actor, please) and would be fiercely protective. No one can tell me it wasn't a real one-sided love. My Bestie would always fill my ears with her Bollywood Movies and Songs and we would reenact dances, and I would make her watch Titanic again!!! Fun times. Cherish what you have, in twenty years those will fill your rare evenings together with laughter... We both still know whole choreographies and songs, and now my husband looks like he is happy he didn't know us as teens as we slip and fall on the floor.
Thanks for the article, I loved it! The only place I’m unfamiliar with is the Philippines, I especially liked…
Yeah, I have also been in a slump with Korean Dramas. But thankfully there are so many different dramas out there, but at times it's difficult finding the one that perfectly matches my mood (and level of tiredness. Korean Dramas are sometimes so formulaic I know what's happening without reading the subtitles... Like you can safely order Pizza Margherita in any Pizzeria anywhere in the world, even if the menu is in a different language...)
Can you list drama of the gif you use? I hehe I'm dying to check it... All of them looks delicious
I sure can: The starter gif is from Kluen Cheewit (Thai) Korea: My ID: Gangnam Beauty China: Dating in the Kitchen Japan: This is Not What I Expected Thailand: APT, its a horror movie, though. Phillipines: Suddenly It's Magic.
