After five episodes, I think Under the Moonlight is an engaging costume drama that I can recommend to watch. So far, it's not about romance, but about solving cases, and the FL is a fascinating character trying to prove her worth by solving cases for the district judge. The following episodes will have to show, if the cases are strong enough to hold my interest.

I really liked the drama. The ending also disappointed me. But I can't agree with all the criticism of the female lead. Shen Xi was a very demanding character. And Ko Chia Yen delivered an excellent performance. In my opinion, she portrayed the character with all her struggles and desires in a lifelike way. There are very few such characters in C-dramaland. And in contrast to all these dramas with childish or too perfect female characters, I'm glad that Shen Xi exists.

I liked the Main Lead Zhai Zi Lu in "We go fast on Trust" very much. So I'm hoping, that his role here is well written.

I especially appreciate how he sees Shen Song as someone he has to protect. With this aspect the narrative balances their differences skillfully.

I guess the male lead's behavior towards others is complex. He seems very traumatized and afraid of repeating some of his failed attempts to get justice for his family. He cares about his friend's family and his friend's uncle. But Gong Sun Li is new to him, he doesn't immediately become friends with him. Later, as you describe, he really cares about him as a friend.

Yes, I think so too. Sometimes I can't decide if it's the character, the way he's written, or his acting skills. In his first scene, I felt his first appearance lacked a bit of presence. Later, however, we discovered him as a daddy's boy. And even later, we saw his experienced side as the Emperor's dismissed college friend. Layers under layers...
I'm only on episode 6 and will continue.
