Just watched it, I was reluctant for years now to watch it and even when I decided to press play I was hesitant. My heart was aching as the events transpired in the movie, my head hurts and my eyes are literally swollen from all the crying. That little girl is so brave and so strong, I kept praying for the real girl once i finished the movie and I hope no one ever has to go through something like that. The movie isnt all sadness though and as its tittle says, "Hope" there is hope in a better future for her, her scars are deep but the ending showed how loved she is and how she is trying her best to move on and heal from it all. I pray she does and I pray she leads a hopeful, loving, strong and beautiful life.
I suggest watching the Turkish version too it was great too
hehe, I actually watched both :D I loved the Korean Version so much so I had to watch the Turkish Version too. Id say I love the Korean version more especially its ending and portrayal of emotions but the Turkish version had a more realistic setting (*Spolier Alert* No sudden Air Balloons that float without a burner) But Both were GREAT in general!
How did i not watch this sooner?!!! It was a really good movie. I was very reluctant to see it because i thought it would be some political mumbo jumbo but I was so wrong and I didnt realize that this was about the Historical revolution for democracy that occured in SK. It was so inspirational and moving I only regret not watching it sooner. Great, emotional film and I highly respect those that fought for their rights.
Tbh I was quite disappointed with this movie.. Probably my fault because I went in with extremely high expectations due to all the good reviews and especially with Clint Eastwood being the director but it was actually quite anticlimactic and I couldnt come to terms or agree at all with the whole "Honorably killing yourself" I failed to symapthize with those soldiers .. When faced with death and you know youre gonna die anyway then at least die fighting rather than hiding in a cave and exploding yourself with grenades! Thats cowardly. It was an ok movie I probably jjst went in with high expectations and got a bit dissapointed.
Anyone who has watched the turkish one or the korean one, which one is better?
I watched both, The korean version had more heart to it and is better overall especially the relationship between the ML and his daughter. The Turkish version is really good too and more serious and less goofy than the Korean version. But in my opiniom the Korean version is better (aside from some unrealistic scenes) it pulled on my heart strings far more than the Turkish version.
Ok so I finally watched it and to say that I cried my eyes out would probably be an understatement! My eyes were literally swollen and I cried so much to the point I literally had a headache from all the crying. Its a really good movie with a heartbreaking story but I would have to say that the execution of the film could have been better.
Somethings were just untealistic and some scenes I felt just popped out of the blue and made no sense but its okay I just went with it for the sake of the story. And the trial was very superficial and very weak debates were made but again I didnt pay too much attention to it for the sake of completeing the story. so yeah I'll give it an 8/10 but it could have definetly been a 10/10 if properly executed. nonetheless its a spectacular movie
Such a heartwarming film
