Not really negative. I have not seen many negative comments here except for this one drama. Mostly I guess from new fans /young fans for the reasons TanGerMil mentioned. And they probably just need some reassurance. I think majority are still watching, enjoying, appreciating and supporting Miles.

Agreed! Miles probably took this role after reading the novel and genuinely wanted to challenge himself in a totally negative role as an abusive husband with concubines and bad habits with no redemption arc (my thought not his). But here he is portrayed as a somewhat mixed bag! Good is dormant and evil/passiveness/incompetence are standing out for the reasons we know. From being at a loss and obedient under family pressure at first, to experiencing a series of events, gradually realizing his own problems and trying to change, the script writer is showing that he is reflecting on his emotional setbacks and life difficulties and learning to understand others. But it is unrealistic and unacceptable to show his growth and transformation through remorse by pursuing his ex-wife, marrying the county princess (especially knowing that he is just going to be used as a pawn!)and continuing with his self pity and self righteousness and naivety in dealing with the real world. I hope Liu Chang character does not become stagnant at this point. If we really to see a three dimensional growth and transformation in him he should at the minimum let go of Mudan, break away from his family and build his own life independently! 🤞For the remaining episodes.

I understand your feeling. but I guess he wants to try out more challenging roles that satisfy him as an actor. At the minimum we should support him. How many lead actors have the courage to take on a second lead/support role let alone a negative role when they are already popular??
