This drama is an adptation of one of the first novels of Shui Qian Cheng so they are just following the plot of the novel. I'm happy there is finally a BL drama of a danmei that is not censored. YES, not everyone has to like it but saying that censored bl dramas are better ??? hell no wtf. BUT since you explained better now I understand what you mean. Well, My Stand In is an adaptation of one novel of the 188 series by Shui Qiang Cheng and they all have a toxic relationship in the novels between the mc and ml 😅So yes, the mc suffers because of this relationship and he discovers some kind of truth, the ml starts to try to get the mc back by all means and he grovels A LOT like it's not that easy to get him back before that happens (there is kind of a redemption arc) but yep they end up together in the end of each novels of the 188 series so if the drama follows the storyline they will mostly end up together.
Another adaptation of one of Shui Qian Cheng's novels (there is My Stand In already) I just can't wait to watch it ! I hope there will be many more to come !
