So someone who watched one of Zeng Shunxi's recent lives commented : Zeng ShunXi did say in his livestream they were all on the beach together at the end and it wasn’t a daydream, but it was meant to leave it open and up to the audiences’ imagination what happens afterwards.

so yeah it confirms that it's really an open ending and that they were really all on the beach at the end.

I don't know if this information has already been shared yet but they censored one scene they filmed in the show. In episode 30 they censored the part where after Li Lianhua vomits blood Fang Duobing normally calls Li Lianhua "XiaoHua" and says "Don't scare me XiaoHua". Don't know why they deleted this part in the show :(

This is the first drama I watched with him and wowwww I'm in awe. I'm going to follow all his dramas from now on. (But I hope they will use his real voice just like in Mysterious Lotus Casebook)

I don't want to spoil you if you haven't watched it but it really depends on how you view it because it's an open ending but for me it is a happy ending.

Yeah the ending for the book is sadder than the open ending we have with iQiyi. At least with the ending we have now he is still alive (depending on how you interpret it). And apparently the author herself said that he was still alive.

Don't worry I'm sure he is not dead.

I really take the ending as an open ending left for your own interpretation and that's clever in some ways. Like it's your decision whether Li Lianhua died or not. Well in my own interpretation he survives bc to me it does make sense that he survived since we see him three months later and when we don't see him on the beach after I take it as this is the last him we'll see him bc he is going to "disappear" and hide from the world to live freely this time without caring about anything else but his well being bc he is at peace with himself now. And as for Fang Duobing and Di Feisheng, they do find him on the beach and stay together with him and they help him, take care of him and even travel all around the world with him. It's up to you to choose which ending is better to you but this is the way I choose to see the ending bc the other way is just sooo depressing and I can't get over this drama.

I mean the moment we see Fang Xiaobao and Di Feisheng running to the beach on their horse to find Li Lianhua (Li Xiangyi), they find him and then we see an empty beach where there is no Li Lianhua and we don't see Fang Xiaobao and Di Feisheng either after that. So for me, they do find him and then they stay together to travel all around the world, no one can change my mind😭 They gave us an open ending where you can choose your ending I'd say. And since this is a 3 month jump it does make sense that he survived. Anyways, that is how I interpret the ending :)

Yes it does make sense if we see the ending that way ~ I don't know if the second ending they talked about is the ending of episode 40 which is the original ending and if the 5 minutes extra is the other ending ? If it's not the case I would like to see the other version of the ending if they can share it :'))
