KBS hit drama last year Young Lady and Gentleman had a rookie actress in the lead (fun fact: she played in Love Revolution with Jihoon lol) so it's possible that won't be an issue. Jihoon is gonna give his all like always so I think it's all gonna come down to the script. The writer's track record is good and the last adaptation she did was a big hit but she's never done saguek before.

I don't have anything against BL fans, I'm one myself. I do have something against shippers and those BL fans that have ruined most discussions of media because they can't engage with it honestly.

Socially anxious people probably don't wanna be picked up from school to help their friends at work, be forced to allow a classmate in their house for a drink, and be forcefully fed by that classmate either. Byeomseok's introduction is him literally helping to drug Sieun because he was too timid and cowardly to stand up against the bully. He showed the same cowardice when they planned to take down the boss but he sold his father's watch instead to give him the money. He obsessed over Suho seemingly ignoring him on social media then Young Yi came into the picture and he thought she got closer to his friends than he did. He was a deeply insecure person because he lacked true strength and he chose to take it out on Suho. Just like Youngbin took out his insecurity of losing on Sieun. You don't have to be evil or have a prior history to fall prey to the cycle of violence.

"Every boy she comes across" didn't know Sieun was the only boy in the whole drama but ok! She befriended him no differently than Suho and Byeomseok did. Sieun wasn't asking for help nor looking friends, they helped him of their own accord then started dragging him along to hang out. Strangely I don't see you here chastising them and accusing them of harassment tho?

Sounds like you need to be on wattpad and not MDL if you can't even engage with what's actually happening on screen and not your BL fantasies

We all have our tastes and opinions so I'm definitely not trying to change yours but this drama is based on a webtoon that takes clear inspiration from martial arts films and shonen battle anime so understanding that and suspension of belief was sort of a requirement. Seems you were expecting a much different drama?

The lack of adult interest in what these kids are doing to each other and how hard it was to get the police to do anything in a drama about the school bullying issues in Korea... seems like that may have been a deliberate bit of social commentary, no? ;)

I didn't find the characters one-dimensional at all actually and their motivations were pretty clear to me. I appreciate when works do more showing than telling, trusting their audience to be able to interpret the character's motivations themselves. Even the parents in the much smaller roles got scenes and hints to their motivations and why their relationships with their kids turned out the way they did. It's thought-provoking and creates discussion, it's been fun talking with people theorizing what Bum Seok's motivations really were. Si-Eun's character arc was very clear and set him up mentally for the next chapter in his life. The main character doesn't always succeed in growing into a better person. I do agree with you that the actors were fantastic, the directing was strong, and I expect the technical aspects like the fight choreography to receive an award as they're some of the best I've seen in a drama.

I haven't read the webtoon but I can tell you that the drama is basically a prequel to that story. The ending where Sieun transfers to a new school is actually where the webtoon starts while all the stuff with Suho is told through flashbacks. I also heard the webtoon is ending soon so we'll know soon enough how much material they plan to adapt.

I agree she's definitely different, never seen a FL whose character "arc" is just going from being one guy's shadow to the next and goes from stopping fights to constantly needing saving. Most FLs are written much stronger than that, no need to insult them with a comparison to this hot mess of a FL.

It's very clear in the writing and direction that they were trying to put the romance on equal footing with the friendship though, else it wouldn't have gotten as much focus as it did. The reason it doesn't feel that way is that their friendships are written with much better development while their romance is written very immaturely and surface level with plenty of hand-holding and kissing but no real mutual trust or communication. All Jun's words about Sobin saving him or whatever comes off as empty sweet-talk because he doesn't actually trust her to know about his life and what he's going through. She only sees the parts he allows her to see and brushes her off for more details.

Kidnapping, trying to get someone wasted (leading to possible sexual assault), and physical assault isn't a matter of "putting aside your differences and problems" lmfao. There was no conflict between the trio and the bullies, just some criminals and thugs harassing them because they couldn't extort Jun for money. If the writer wanted to tell that kind of "mature" story, they should've made more realistic conflicts between them that actually WERE a butting of different beliefs and ways of approaching life. Instead, they were written as cartoony thugs that need to be arrested not compromised with.

Okay, let me phrase this another way: there were scenes they showed in the prerelease material for this week's eps weren't in this ep so it's obviously for Ep 12. Because the drama has not ended.

No... it's a Mon-Tue drama and you can scroll up and clearly see that it states it has 12 eps. This was verified through all the pre release material too. They aren't gonna randomly end it on a Monday lol
