So they are already playing the end game by picking and choosing which prince to follow. One of the princes is in league with the enemy country.

I think it's the red and black clothed one thats in league with gazillion evil sects and the foreign nation. The blind is not smart enough and cant fight but he is most the suited person in line cause all of the other princes are garbage, which is why the original novel and its prequels constantly praised friends over blood relatives. The blind one gets to inherit the throne by default cause Xiao se wont do it.
