I would say XL spends more time with XY than the other leads. CX will physically see her much more often but it’s not really the same type of time (enjoying life) as like it is with XL.

Someone else posted on an earlier thread in an interview where the author claimed that XL was her favourite character.

That aside he’s a fan favourite 😉

In the book they were 100% first cousins.

In the show because they changed XY mom to being CX grandmother’s only disciple; there could be an implied closeness like a relative which I think is what the show is trying to do.

In the book they were related by blood but it’s more washed down in the drama. They refer to each other as their only relatives as well.

Me too and I still haven’t gone back for IS but I heard the ending wasn’t great so I also haven’t bothered for that reason

I don’t really know if there’s much else to his storey? He was a business man until his brother tortured him and the rest is in the drama. The book doesn’t really have more on him than that. One the thing the show is doing a poor job of showcasing his quiet intellectual side.

I read the novel too and saw BTS clips of him dying in a battle so I want to say no it will stay true to the novel.

But part of me wonders, doesn’t he have 9 lives? He’s gotta have one leftover somewhere to ‘retire’ and live out his life with furball too.

It’s been 10 years since book was released and author has commented he’s her favourite character so maybe she will give him this in the show since the book is long finished.

I’m looking forward to it too. Th seashell scene is one of my favourite parts in the book.

I doubt it. In the epilogue he used half his strength and couldn’t open the doll after it soaked up all the demon sap.

TSJ was the ‘right’ choice for her but man XL devotion and love to her was another level.

I feel like only reason TSJ won over the other 3 MLs is because he’s the only one who’s #1 priority was XL. The other 3 all had other priorities.

I feel like jing is the ultimate ‘good guy’.

I didn’t watch the show but in the novel her mom unleashed the sun power within her body but she became a demon and started to destroy everyone around her so her dad had to stop her by giving his heart to her. So her mom still has the power of the sun but can’t be anywhere near people and her dad is dead without his heart.

Do you mean when she tries to poison CX and herself? Because that happens towards the end of the series. I would guess around episode 68.

I probably didn’t pay enough attention when I read it then. I think I just felt like the drama is making the feelings more intense to me than reading it 😂.

They don’t really talk about it. XY pieces it together years later after XL tips her off. But it’s an admission through confrontation. There is nothing written about the scheme.

Uggg I read the same scene in the novel between XY and XL on the shore after he tried to drown her and the show is giving me way different feels than the novel did.

I felt like in the book it was implied he wanted her to rely on him to breathe underwater but in the show he directly calls it kissing so he is directly trying to be affectionate with her or get her to be affectionate.

In the book I read the dreams as in allowing him too much into her life. But in the drama it was that he wasn’t the kind of guy she should end up with and it scared her that she was allowing it to happen. Which is her admitting that she is starting to like him (romantically).

I don’t know if I’m missing something from the book. But I much love the show more right now for adding this element of angst and XL as a potential romantic interest.

It’s sad but I felt like that was also the act that established how much he cared about her. He also doesn’t take credit for removing the bug.

I think he always knew that one day he would die in battle which is why he didn’t ever want to tell her he had any feelings for her. And he wanted to XY to feel like she didn’t matter to him so it wouldn’t hurt her or make her feel abandoned when he died.
