rewatching LYF again after a long while. and the emotional damage I am suffering right now from Xiang Liu
he loved her so much. but only one willing to give up their own ambitions and goals for Xiao Yao was TSJ. but still, the scenes with XL are so raw with emotion. I really wish he chose her.
I just binged watch this series on the weekend and it is a really good saeguk palace drama. lots of people commented on how SDI repeatedly rejected JJ and wasn’t clear she loved him. I actually felt like the love was evident and she says as much to her friends in Ep16. but she actually was realistic in terms of what being a concubine to the king meant. she enjoyed her freedom and knew that she would always be sharing him with other women and never being his priority. not every woman wants that. but she did love him. that’s why she asks him what it would be like if they were commoners; she wanted to hear him say that he would only choose her.
she told him she didn’t want to see him again in his next life meaning she didn’t want to fall in love with him again because of all the freedom she lost in this life doing so but she makes it clear that she did choose him in this life. he finds out later form her friend that the friends will meet together in the afterlife and he’s angry that he chose her forever but she did not choose him forever. I feel like the ending was him dying and going to the afterlife and she despite everything also chose him for forever.
I’ve watched piles of these historical c and k dramas. and this storyline is pretty typical of a harem drama. king loves one women but has to deal with piles of women and inevitable the love of his love dies discontent with her choice.

just my two cents
does that rong Qing guy remember his past too?
when do they figure the other one also remembers the past/future?
