Another theory. Ryang Eum came back to joseon with NYJ after confirming that Gilchae was infact kidnapped. We…
I thought JH saw GC at the end of 12, so he would know she's there already. But I DO think RE and GWM are going to be looking for her, so RE stops by JH's to tell him. RE may be secretly enlisting JH's help behind GWM's back. There's just too much drama to be had if GC is staying with JH and GWM finds them together, so I think that has to happen π€
Viki is really so dirty for waiting until midnight to release subs T_T Everyone's chatting about the episode and I'm just sitting here hoping I don't spoil too much for myself
I'm just kidding, thank you subbers! I know you work hard all day to get this out to us! I'm just so excited for episode 12...
was expecting him to start screaming about barbarians grabbing Gil Chae < he wasn;t present when it happened,…
Even if he wasn't present, he's just started saying the barbarians had nabbed her before, so I don't think he needed to really see it happen for him doing that to be in character. But yeah, very weird he's not around
Am I the only one wondering where Gil Chae's father is? He just wasn't in episode 11 and nobody acted like he was missing - unless I totally missed it? Especially when she got nabbed in 11, I was expecting him to start screaming about barbarians grabbing Gil Chae like always and being actually right this time...
Did the show get a new writer? They set it up pretty heavily that her father had his "terminal lucidity" and I was expecting some follow-up on that and its prevention of Gil Chae's marriage. I'm 99% sure in the first episode they say she's bad luck or a used woman or something because she was *almost* married twice. Not that she had been engaged and then married a different man, and THEN ended up with Jang. Am I wrong?
Great comment! I agree. I thought episode 11 was great but I wanted more of Gil Chae's interior character to come…
Tbh, I doubt it. I see Officer Gu rejecting Gil Chae after being captured by the barbarians and then her and Jang just run away together since she has no family to return to and it would be detrimental for them for her to come back actually. Or officer Gu may die Β―\_(γ)_/Β― Although I like him, he isn't Jang, and I still have hope the leads will get together after all the tragedy
In episode 11, how did they figure out the old man was a fleeding captive just by looking at his hair ?
The Manchurians had their hairstyles in the queue style, which was a shaven head except for one long ponytail/braid down the back. They made their male captives and subjects shave their head as a sign of subjugation. They noticed the front part of his top bun was shorter than the back, which means he had been captured and subjugated by the Manchurians, so he was obviously an escapee.
This is also why it's a big reveal that Jang takes his hood off when he starts fighting against the army to save Gil Chae on the island in Part 1, he exposed to them that he still has the Joseon haircut aka a full head of hair.
NO, in my opinion it does NOT have a happy ending!
This was also my understanding when I watched it the first time, but my best friend theorized something else which I choose to believe because it makes the ending better...
Theory is: He actually lives there in Switzerland playing the piano and she's in SK a lot doing business because that's where her headquarters is. She probably goes there more often than just the 2 weeks, but as he doesn't want the fact he's North Korean to kill her business they keep the relationship more hushed so she visits on "business trips". He can't come back to SK because he chose the North and that would be a security liability to the South, but once out of the military, he just lives overseas (probably through his powerful father's influence). There is some evidence in that the squad member friends of RJH act like they haven't seen him in a LONG time. Also, the house has a lot of personal items in it (photos) that I just don't think would be in a vacation home (but I'm too broke to understand how rich people decorate vacation homes...)
All interpretation and speculation, but it's the way I chose to believe their story ended because that really would be happy βΊοΈ
If you don't mind my asking, what about it was the thing(s) that made it terrible for you?
That's fair. And I'm actually inclined to agree with you on the second season craze we're in, I usually never watch them (like with Alchemy of Souls, I still refuse to watch the second season). Although, a good point was brought up to me that the original Gone With the Wind was also made in 2 parts (the old movie has an intermission that splits the story in half and leaves off briefly in tragedy) so I'm going to write it off this once (just once!) that it's an attempt to stay true to the source material.
Other than that, I agree with you totally. The finale of part 1 was very stressful for me too π
I don't think it's a remake. The characters ae inspired, yes but a remake is most often set in the same times,…
You're right, I chose the term poorly. Perhaps I should've said it's a better telling of the story/idea? Because I honestly think this is better done than the original
This theory could actually be true. Teaser for Part2 is out and Gilchae seems to be in Qing as a prisoner. My…
I didn't see the trailer and in fact I can't find it. But a difference in dress I think to could attributed to the fact that she could be a palace maid in a different country (I forget if the Jurchens are Ming or Mongolia)
