Haters are still dedicated to this drama, despite that it ended over a month a go, so basically we all cant move…
how 'bout we just reach the common ground that: some people liked it, some people didn't. Let them speak their opinions and we just all go watch something else.
this is the kind of show that combines everything together without going overboard. You start out thinking it's some serious shenanigans then you realized oshit its actually kinda funny and then it's oshit well comedy isn't it either. And just when you settle into the 'oh its modern-era' it throws you into some old eras and then you're like owait no.
idk not to be cheesy or cringeworthy but it's exactly kinda like life (like the title) where there're bits of everything.
At the end of season 1, I thought the childhood friend would never be able to replace that genie in my mind but wow how that changed. I now would rather prefer the friend than the stone in s3 but either way, I'm just glad one of them is back for another season.
just because something doesn't make sense to you doesn't mean its not a masterpiece for others, i didnt see you…
o and idk if this helps you feel better but I actually gave this an 8 for WDH who stole the show so I hope you can use some analysis skills and reach the conclusion that I actually quite like this show for an aspect entirely unrelated to romance.
just because something doesn't make sense to you doesn't mean its not a masterpiece for others, i didnt see you…
Well, let me phrase it better then: "IMO I don't consider this a masterpiece because of a lot of plot holes and weird destined stuff that doesn't really add up in the end at all". After all, I can only say so much without spoiling.
Whether or not you agree isn't why I decide to write. I'm just here to give my pov on a show that I have some strong opinions about. Besides, if you actually read my 'essay' (instead of skipping to that paragraph with the least words), you'll see that I actually did highlight both what I liked and didn't like about this show. I didn't say 'yo deserve a clap for liking this' nor did I vehemently say anyone watching this is awful. I didn't attack anyone so idk why tf you're doing this.
Also you would be very wrong to say that I didn't write an essay on the last drama I found lacking (See Autumn Cicada for example). I literally write essays on everything I watched that impressed me (for better or worse). Just because you think it's good doesn't mean it's true and just because I didn't like it doesn't make it a fact either. In the end, the majority's opinion becomes the 'truth'.
If you can tell me what you liked, maybe we can have a civilized conversation instead of clapping each other until one of us die.
the actors/actresses were great but man, that destined romance is rushed and unenticing. Like, if you're gonna do some destined/developed stuff, at least make it as good as the friendship between the male leads that reflects through proper dialogue and not cheesy lines that does nothing to make me like the cp more. Kinda hate the whole 'supposed badass fl but also always weak for ML to heroically save' trope. Fine, i get that the ML is supposed to be badass and I love the cinematography for those scenes but it's at the expense of my love for the FL.
The only thing that dragged me through this (albeit skipping a lot) is WDH and his friendship w the king. At this point I'm just so discouraged from picking another romance drama.
also confusing plot and plot holes don't equal masterpiece. just because something doesn't make sense doesn't mean it's quality.
but in the end, would I recommend you go watch this? Yes. Do it for Jo Yeong bc the bromance is good (though that ending is like ???? too busy finding your girl that the part about saving your best friend only exists in dialogue?). But if you're here for romance, i suggest you find something else bc smh
Watched the first episode. It is not bad, not so much into gaming dramas but this one seems interesting. On the…
haha having been in China during then, I can say that it's pretty accurate depending on where you live. Back then, our school had those gigantic heavy PCs that ran windows XP and, in poorer suburban/rural places, ppl only use those big heavy TVs and all the places look a little ran down with those iron window bars and weird beige/gray floor tiles.
Is there any romance from what you watched so far, or is it something like "King's Avatar"?
Kinda like King's Avatar except you can definitely say that there's a subtle romance line though it definitely isn't a full-blown thing. More background and uncertain.
asldfjaslkdj thank you so much if possible, you should also change some of the colors on the watchlist for dark mode bc rn it's awfully bright with the white text and yellow stars. But other than that, <3
Watched this before I read the webtoon (which is rlly good btw) and I have to say I did enjoy it very much. Having read the webtoon after, there's def a lot of differences so I'd recommend going into this without expectations from the webtoon.
If you don't think you can stomach 42 eps of three old guys and their sketchy but funny everyday events (aka mishaps), I recommend that you watch this for Lu Zheng (the youngest kid on their team). It's like watching 3 fathers and their kid lmao.
this is so good. Tight plot and engaging characters, a good balance of quality humor and intrigues that draws you in episode after episode. Highly rec to anyone (even though it's still airing and the wait is prob gonna kill me)
almost overlooked this bc it's another hk drama and I was a bit tired of some of their character tropes (and also bc the poster looks like something from the 90s) But man it's so good I'm def biased but I love the interactions b/w the 2 male leads. The first FL doesn't vibe with me v well bc she's portrayed as a rather generic, flat, 'righteous' character. However, all the other characters, even the supporting characters are pretty nice. I love how every character shows their purpose without being explicitly portrayed in those one ep per character styles. Instead, we're shown their parts by watching their interactions and connection to the ML.
im guessing you're new to historical chinese dramas
haha not exactly. I just prefer more action than a whole dialogue explaining everything. Especially near the end, instead of telling, I'd prefer more showing and if they're gonna fight, they should just fight instead of being the typical morally-grey villain who explains their tragic backstory tm. I just want it to be more tense? (if thats the right word) instead of the characters moving from places to places just to have another long dialogue.
But YC is adopted and it would make sense for him to work for China rather than Japan and in the flashbacks, wasn’t…
haha ya but i just feel like his adopted background doesn't really contribute much to becoming commy. Like, just bc you're chinese doesn't mean you'll support the chinese ideals. Most likely, his hatred against japanese was born out of his hatred for his adopted father but ty for the explanation about his mother. I saw that his father killed her but i wasn't sure why or how since all I saw it's just her sitting down and dying lmao (i was prob skipping too fast ontop of that)

highly rec this regardless; it's a nice change.
