The production coordination was super bad. They keep filming the same scenes over and over again (apparently the director was very particular), until halfway through filming. XK fans who had access to the prod plan raised so many questions, protested his scenes not being filmed. But the producer mocked the fans back. There were issues of extras not getting paid. XK also had it tough coz he would get his makeup and costume done in the morning/afternoon, go to set, wait the entire day until other scenes were done, and film his scenes at the last minute, or sometimes he could not even film his scenes due to time and budget issues. Fans had to do some serious protests for them to film the ep 14 battle scenes. XK also got breaks on normal days and was asked to come on set to film right before either before taking a flight or after taking a flight, with barely any sleep or rest. Even from the bts footage i've seen, he's actively discussing the plot logic and direction with everyone. This whole thing was a lost cause.
And this is just the tip of the iceberg. Dont even get me started on how YZ, producer and HS talked him into taking this script. So many trolls on weibo, black hotsearch everywhere on weibo.

you should have read ep24/25 of the original script. They reveal everything (i mean everything) in that episode. Felt like getting whipped coz of the amount of revelations and flashbacks. I didn't have a problem reading it, but watching the drama is gonna be unbearable especially with these director and producer combo
