It not just CDrama, Kdrama is the same. It largely have to do with risk, alot of production need to ensure some kinda hit. And making stuff that already have a fan base, like adapting a web novel is less risky.

O yeah Xianxia nowadays... are just getting worst and worst. After Eternal Love (2017) with Yang Mi. they have churn out some decent xianxia but ALOT of them are mediocre and you really have to question yourself what the point.

It's just funny how you have a problem with other people doing it, but it ok when it's you.
But see how annoying it is to say someone is wrong.
It almost 10 year since I watch it, so dont know if it stood the test of time. But it was beautiful and the story is a solid one.
