I binge watched this for the second time and liked it even more than the first time. I have watched over 50 BLs in the last two years and where there were multiple couples at least one of the couples split up or there was an ex girlfriend always lurking around making trouble. In a lot of series there is at least one homophobic parent. Also, the only series I can remember where the couple actually stayed together until old age was Life, Love On the Line(movie). It made me feel really good to see all four couples still together after college and faithful to one another in spite of their issues.
I binge watching for the second time. Love it. It’s short but in my opinion captures the angst and anxiety of being a young teenager. So much happens during those early years….first love, rejection. ambivalence over ones identity, peer pressure, issues with parents, the need for independence….And somehow this series addresses each in a very lovely but subtle way. The cast was awesome especially the mls. The contrast in their parents was handled in a realistic way. I had a friend. Her grandfather would lecture her harshly and make her stand in the corner to reflect on her life. He was wealthy. My parents were not. Our house was a safe haven for her. Sometimes she would climb our cherry tree and just sit. I still remember how happy she seemed in those moments. About Youth is a refreshing reflection of those evolutionary years. Also I personally love the music. I found it calming.
Wow turns out Suiwan is a real psychopath. Hope they wrap her part up and throw her in a deep hole somewhere. Really thought Ohm did a great job and I’m such a fan of Fluke I just love him. I may be the only one but I actually like the music.
Just finished the last episode and personally I loved it! No heavy drama. Just focusing on the future and the joy of living ones truth. There were some clear messages sent and received with hope for a better future for all. Take care and be well.
I guess it’s time for a little bit of bl fluff. As long as the airhead shipping female character has limited screen time I may be able to stick around. Also is Fah on the downlow or the females just don’t . Lol
Episode 6 thoughts1) I'm on the side that they did not "make love" that night, nor would they have even if mom…
Lol I really like your number 3 the most. As I was listening to her I kept thinking what a narcissistic asshole she is. And I agree about the staff. I didn’t like Never Have I Ever games when I was young and naive. I cringe every time that’s included in a bl series. I would have bailed too. Even her so called friend was too busy . She should be in fine caustic, toxic manipulative form next week.
It seems like Ing has suffered so much and so has Wang. I just want them both to have a happy ending together. The mother needs to leave and go somewhere and get a life. It appears as if both Ing and the father sacrificed so much in trying to live according to what social conventions say. Sadly there are still so many not able to live their truth.
Oh my God next week is going to be crazy! Imagine having lost your husband to this man and now the same man has captivated your son! What revelations will we get next week when the mother shares her own perspective on In and her husband. Another riveting episode!
Just a little reminder to everyone, don't read comments too much before starting a drama, just read the details…
Good advice…I also have learned not to put so much weight on the ratings. There were series that had low ratings but I watched and absolutely enjoyed and vice versa there were shows that had high ratings and I still can’t figure out how.
I just got around to watching the last ep, and I was thinking that Sand's behaviour is a bit odd. I mean, he got…
Unfortunately there are people out there who are not hesitant about taking advantage of a person who is just a nice person….I know someone who seems to never have money but is always the first one at the restaurant. Met a mutual friend and as soon as her name came up the consensus was she was always coming up short so of course being good people someone would offer to pay her tab. And she’s no teenager. Loved the advice Pao gave Seeiw.
This episode was so good. I’m so glad they didn’t drag the Seeiw/Sand fiasco out and letting Seeiw hear what kind of guy Sand was for himself was perfect. Also, who wouldn’t want a best friend like Cake. I loved it when his father asked him how the other guy looked and when Cake said he looked twice as bad his dad fist bumped him. The acting has been great. Prem and Peak have really stepped up their game. Kudos to each. Of course, Earth never disappoints. Santa is just a natural. So far I even like the female roles. They are usually depicted in BLs as being so manipulative and desperate. Either that or they are just dumb as a rock like Champoo in Love By Chance. I know we are in for a lot of angst and drama in the next few episodes. Hopefully we won’t get an open ending. I hope Earth gets a happy ending this time around.
...in the preview, the kiss seemed it would be a tease. I even said it wouldnt happen!! I was pleasantly surprised…
I agree. It felt so sincere. There was nothing sexual about it in my opinion. It was more than that. It was about mutual affection and concern for one another. And isn’t that really what true love is?
Its not just the name change, Legally adopting Kai is a very strong connection, As good as blood imo, you can…
Thank you for that wonderful perspective. My dad was not my biological dad. When I was around five, the year I started kindergarten he legally adopted me. From what I gather just doing that was enough for both sides of the family. I didn’t even find how I was adopted by him until I was an adult. His side of the family seemed to just forget about me not being blood related. When he walked me down the aisle at my wedding they were all there cheering me on as they had always done. So I guess I see where that changing of the name carries great significance to a family.
This entire cast is so talented! But I especially admire Khoa! I really like actors who can convey so much emotions…
I was thinking the very same thing. The acting has been top caliber. I have watched each of these young actors in other series and it is so exciting to see the growth.
This is just so sweet. I feel it captures the challenges of being young and starting to evolve into the you that you want to be. I can’t believe we are almost at the end.
AMAZING EP 5!! I can't believe I would find just 2 guys having a conversation over wine to be sooo freaking absorbing.…
It’s obvious by the comments that we have some real literary aficionados here who recognize and appreciate true art when they see it. I wouldn’t even classify this as a bl. To do so minimizes its beauty. As I watched ep 5 it was like watching a two man play. When it was over I didn’t want to leave the theatre. I was literally clapping at the performance.
Just finished episode 5 and all I can do is just catch my breathe. This is acting and writing at its best. Just two people who exude such sensual tension with just a word or simple gesture. I love how they talk about lines as it relates to architecture but knowing all the time that it’s not about architecture at all. It just raises our curiosity even more. What led the best friend/father to drink? Were lines crossed and if so by whom? Will history repeat itself? What role did the mother play years ago and what role will she play again? She is very possessive of her son. Unlike his father will he have the strength to fight for his love ? Likewise will In run away again or cross the line he dared not cross years ago? The coming episodes are sure to be explosive. I can’t wait.
Whenever I see a female character like Pink I just feel like the writer went brain dead and decided to take the lazy way out and throw in an annoying frivolous female. The first episode was just okay. At least the cast is cute.
