Me, when Dhevi showed up to save the day with Moira-👏🤛🤸♀️🤸🤸🤸💃🏿💃🏿Me, when…
Love your different characters at the end. Really I dont feel sorry for Dhevi or Krailert. We assume their life will be miserable. We assume it will be loveless. Truth be told even in this day and time there are people who choose to enter into such marriages and they find a way to coexist with contentment. We all have a picture of what a happy marriage looks like to us but there is no one size fits all. I know a woman who married a man with gay tendencies(that was the term used in my day) They had three sons. Over the years they appeared to be very comfortable and accepting of one another. When I think about Delhvi and Kreilert they were at least kind and cordial toward one another. They slept in the same bed and they each had found a way to be content. Who says marriage has to be romantic and sensual? She will be a kind and loving mother. He will be a good dad. They each will have their own interests. It happens. It would however be interesting to see them in twenty years. Watching them standing together as Trin left they already seemed to have accepted their fate.
I lied. This will be my last post. I absolutely love how Veera’s comrades handled the pictures and how Victor’s parents responded to his friend’s feeling of guilt. Awesome!
She choose this misery herself. She knew from beginning he was gay. She said it herself. She told her dad she…
You do have a point and a valid one but the fact that he had rissen to such a level and stil l took the risk of having a male lover to me implies he has made choices from the start knowing he could be outed.
I have one last comment. I am so appreciative of the many insightful comments on this series. The comments have been directed at the elements of the series and the perspectives on how the storyline unfolded. While there have been different views presented none have been directed at the persons making the comments or at the actors themselves personally. I enjoy reading thought provoking analysis of a series and/or the bl/gay genre. Take care. Now its on to Mandate.

I hear you but Kreilert had a choice to make at the very beginning. He chose his career in the military. So what we have here are adults faced with real life decisions. As he told Trin you make decisions and you have to live with those decisions. Again what I love about this series is every one has flaws and weaknesses to some degree. The one who I feel had the least weaknesses was Veera.
I know some of you are upset with Dhevi but as woman I was like go on Dhevi with your bad self. I can just read her mind..,,Krailert, if you think I have spent all these days by myself laying in a cold bed with my needs unmet while you have been getting your goodies you are grossly mistaken. If you think you are going to leave me here to face the whispers and the public humiliation you better think again. Dhevi was direct and made her needs clear. It was she and Moira who saved his behind. And she let him know she had three brothers. She was not without compassion. She saved his lover and his nephew’s life. Now where I come from that is called giving you fair warning not to mess with me! Now get in that room and give me what I need. If it helps just pretend I am Narva! Sorry folks but I love how the female characters were portrayed. They had grit. They had to look a certain way on the outside but they had survival skills which they used when needed. I felt bad for Krailert and Narva but as a woman I have to give her her street credits. She knew what she was getting from the get go and she had a price to pay. She got her baby and the appearance of a happy couple while Narva got his life and Krailert’s heart.
Exactly. In 1969, things were completely different. If homophobia still exists today, imagine back then... The…
You are perfectly right. This is why I can accept this ending. Both Naran and Kreilert live and in their own way their love lives on too. Delhvi got what she wanted and needed to maintain her own dignity.,She is under no delusions. I always felt she was a dark horse and knew more than was portrayed. Krailert gave her that baby but Naran has his heart. I am good. In my mind I can now fantasize their meeting in some obscure place making wild passionate love.
This finale was truly a work of love. No stone was left unturned. It still not give way to cliches and it did not give us a romanticized ending. It stayed in synch with the tone of that era and the realities of life. It depicted life as it was without being somber . Every one involved in this project deserves a standing ovation. The tears, the personal heartache, the despair, the angst were each brilliantly portrayed. But so was the hope and promise for a better day. The sun indeed will shine again. We move on living each day with promise. We are faced with choices and we have to live with these choices. Our four mls put everything they had into their roles. I look forward to seeing them in future projects. There is so much I could say. This undoubtably is the best series of 2025 in terms of acting, directing, music, storyline, and cinematography. For me this was a 10/10. This will definitely go on my rewatch list.
I cant believe tomorrow this gem is coming to an end. Last week my heart was torn in pieces. I am literally having a panic attack thinking about tomorrow’s final finale. I came to love this cast . They were mesmerizing. One thing Be On Cloud knows how to do is put together a stellar cast. I am so reminded of that final episode of KinnPorsche. We were rooting for all three couples right up until the very end. In one case it was a bittersweet ending. I sense the same thing happening tomorrow and I feel my heart breaking already. It was the same with the finale of 4 Minutes. Brace yourself.
As nice as Pin is I just hope this triangle love thing is put to rest soon. However, since her role is billed as a main lead it is likely she is going to be hanging around for awhile which I find annoying. Personally, when I look at a bl that is what I want to see….boy love….not a self proclaimed gay male vacillating between the guy he really loves and a female he is supposed to love because of societal pressures. That is what I loved about To Sir With Love and Memoir of Rati. The female characters became allies and vital to the eventual union of the male leads. Even in the previews being shown they remind me of Three Will Be Free. Are we getting a trouple? I hope not. I know it’s early but I want more of our two guys. Their chemistry together is amazing. Next week looks pretty intense so we will see what direction this is taking. I am still hopeful.
4 more episodes to go. It is interesting. I love the basic premise of going back and getting a possible second chance but I really dont enjoy bls with a female interest as a foil. To me that is wasted airtime that could be spent on the development of the other bl couples.
Ep 1 was fun to watch. The mls and fl are easy on the eyes. The plot is not new but it will be interesting to see what nuances will be added to maintain interest. I am hopeful. Nice start! I love me some jewelry!
I have just watched one of the most in depth and enlightening discussion on Shine and the process involved in bringing the characters Krailert, Naron and Victor to life. It is on Youtube and titled First Time on Gay Series. Son(Krailert), Euro(Naron) and Peter(Victor) each provide us with their journey from when they were considering playing their respective roles to the preparation they used to give the proper nuance to the role. I really appreciated how Son expressed his concern about the use of nudity and that it reflect the artistic elements of the series. I think when actors sit down have these kind of discussions it accentuates the fact that these are actors playing a particular role. Acting is their chosen craft and playing a certain character may require that they step out of their comfort zone but just like any other profession if you want to grow and stretch you will see certain roles as an opportunity and not be wary. As I and others have said Shine is not your formula bl. It transcends that label. I just see it as a very realistic and honest piece of work that does a fantastic job of portraying the tempo and tone of that era.
I cant believe tomorrow is the last day. They have really taken us on a merry go round ride and I have enjoyed every minute. I really hope we see the actors together in another project. Their chemistry is so sweet.
This has become my go to series when I just need to smile and be happy. This cast is just so darn fun to watch. It takes real talent and perfect timing to do comedy and do it well!
