it is confirmed today that Wu lei is the ml and Sophie Zhang the fl
Well, Song Zuer has done fantasy dramas with fighting scenes before. She was fully capable of using a sword. Plus, I hear that they'll have months to train those scenes, so, I think she could pull it off. I don't think she'd be any worse at sword scenes than Zhao Jinmai. I was thinking more about if she could pull off the personality of the FL or not.

I don't mind Zhao Jinmai as an actress, and she was really good with LeiLei in Amidst a Snowstorm of Love. I just didn't really want to see her again because they were just paired recently. Honestly, I'd like to see Wu Lei with a brand new actress so he can keep expanding his acting by starring with different co-stars. Or, if it's going to be someone he is already familiar with, then maybe Song Zuer would be good since it's been about 6 years now since they last worked together. He and Zuer are also good friends in real life and were super close college classmates for years, so they would work well together. Just not too sure if she would fit the FL character.

Thank you for explaining the story and relationship dynamic. I don't know much about Sword Coming or its characters, but I've heard that it's very popular and has a huge fanbase. I'm a huge Wu Lei fan though, and any project that has a lot of action sequences is right up Wu Lei's alley. Looking forward to it(if he truly accepts the offer). I'm really curious about who they'll pair him up with. Just waiting for the official announcement.

That source says "tentatively", so that means it's not official yet, I think.

Still just rumors at this point. Not confirmed yet, right?
Oh...interesting little update on Song Zuer. Maybe...just maybe. But, yeah, again, I would love to see them reunite in this project, otherwise, a brand new actress with LeiLei would be awesome too. I think LeiLei and Zuer have great chemistry, from what I can recall of them in Guardians of the Ancient Oath, and that drama wasn't even romance heavy. If they don't end up working together on this project, then I'd like to see them collaborate on something romantic in the future. I saw them together on their episode of Hello Saturday when they were promoting Guardians, and they were so cute :)

Song Zuer and Wu Lei worked together in Guardians of the Ancient Oath back in 2020 when they were still students at Beijing Film Academy. In that drama, she plays Baili Hongyi and she uses a sword, so I'm sure she can handle one just fine.

Maybe these people have never fallen in love themselves. They wouldn't understand the feeling. Love is meant to be cringey, even awkward. That's a part of the thrill of love in its initial, young phase. Maybe some of these critics are fans of another drama of his(LLTG), and they feel the need to attack his other dramas because they like his pairing with Zhao Lusi in LLTG. As a Wu Lei fan who has watched pretty much all of his projects, I see that a lot. Silly fan wars, you know.

Ah...well, I guess we'll just have to wait patiently for a confirmation to see if LeiLei has truly picked up this drama, and to see which actress he has been paired with. Very exciting.

"always forcefully drag you around to kiss you"...is what you said, which happens in, like, 95% of romantic dramas I've ever seen, so, no, it's not that clear to me. That's why I asked specifically which MLs you enjoy watching. In fact, I don't recall that he forcefully tried to kiss her against her will(except the one time when they had that little fight, which he ends up apologizing for). I thought he was quite patient with her, and showed that he was really into her, but never actually forced anything on her against her will. And I did look at your list. I'm not familiar with any of them except "Upcoming Summer"(which, isn't one I would consider a heavy romance anyway), so I guess that's of no help. Oh well. If the ML is too creepy for you, then watch something that won't creep you out.

Whaaa? Why you complaining that they start "f*cking in the early episodes" while others are complaining that the FL is doing too much "playing hard-to-get"? Like, both can't be true at the same time, right?

You can look at Wu Lei's other performances...and his characters are all different depending on what character he's playing. Like, check him out in "Nothing but You" or "Cross Fire" or "Battle Through the Heavens" or "Upcoming Summer", and compare those characters to Lin YiYang in here. He's nothing in those dramas and films like he is here. It's def the character that he's playing. He's an excellent actor who is super versatile.

Different strokes for different folks, like they say. Some like Wang Xingyue while he's not my cup of tea. He's an okay actor whose character didn't leave that much of an impact on me.

Just curious, but you're saying that you don't like most C-drama ML characters then, right? Who is an example of a ML character that you like?

I swear. I couldn't finish the series because of it. The way the male lead looks at the female lead is so cringy…
Lin Yiyang is very similar to LBY in LLTG, in terms of what he's like when he's looking at the love of his life. It's as if that person is the only person who exists in the entire world. I don't understand how him staring at the FL in LLTG was so "mesmerizing" to some but those same people hate how he's staring at the FL in THIS drama. The only difference is that he's looking at two different actresses. I think the fact that it's a different actress might be what's bothering those who loved him with ZL in LLTG. I mean, seriously, how was his gaze at ZL in LLTG "more natural"? It was the same kind of staring, the kind that's giving you crazy butterflies and making you squirm uncomfortably because you've just realized that this super handsome guy is clearly conscious of you and only sees you.

If you dislike his character and he creeps you out, that's fine. Not every character was made for every viewer. I like him. Doesn't matter to me if it's a quieter guy. Actions speak louder than words, and he treats her really well and is a kind person with high emotional intelligence. Total green flag, despite being a quiet guy. There's nothing violent or mean about him, and he only looks at one person, the FL character whom he likes, in that manner so it's quite romantic. As for the "always forcefully drag you around to kiss you", IMO, he's not any different in that respect than how so many other c-drama ML characters are portrayed. I personally love a respectful guy(e.g., Wu Lei's Ashile Sun who never pushes himself on his girl), but some viewers claim that kind of a guy doesn't show enough passion. I'm also not sure what you mean by "the girl looks like she's in pain every time he comes close", though. She's clearly into him too, just extremely shy, and that shyness was only at the beginning of their relationship.

A dark, quiet character who's running from his past, and is kind of stuck in limbo in terms of what to do with his life and future due to the trauma of his past failure. He's quite kind to the people around him though. He just refuses to face his past.

I have a guess why, thier main lead got del raba has a poor performance and got a lot of negative comments. Also…
...Dilraba won an acting award for her role too, actually. I think you're making a lot of assumptions. She won the Golden Angel TV Award for Best Young Actor at the Chinese American Film Festival, while she was nominated for the Soul International Drama awards for best actress. Lusi won at the Soul International Drama awards. So, you can say that the American/western fans preferred Dilraba in her role while the Korean fans preferred Lusi in hers.
