Title The Long Ballad Spoiler
I like strong female characters, I actually came here 'cause it was recommended while looking for dramas like…
Well, I don't really know why anyone would call her a Mary Sue. She wasn't free of weaknesses or free of character flaws. She struggled emotionally between her anger and desire for revenge VS helping her people(because that meant helping her enemy). She had to grow a lot. She was also physically weak even though she had martial art training while growing up. Her plans didn't always work either. She failed to provide Shuozhou with victory, and was later tricked by Khatun into getting Sun's foster mother killed. She was far from flawless. Also, calling this a "cheaper" version of LLTG is wrong on so many levels. The Long Ballad and LLTG aren't comparable as they are not similar shows at all(I didn't like LLTG as much, personally). And she had to prove herself first before people started trusting her. For example, Gongsun Heng didn't trust her at first, and while he allowed her to stay with them, they were suspicious and had their eyes on her the entire time. Only after realizing her passion for helping her country and recognizing her ability to strategize did he start trusting and utilizing her in the war against Ashile Tribe.

They had a kiss. It was just blurred...but I have no idea why people have such a big problem with that. It's all…
I guess. But they don't matter in terms of the characters.

I don't think that they did either, but that was my point. The two characters kiss. It doesn't matter if the actors really kiss or not. It's not a relationship between the two actors. They are just acting and portraying two fictional characters. Whether they kiss for real or not doesn't affect how much the two characters in the story love each other.

Title The Long Ballad Spoiler
i waited 40+ episodes and the leads didn't have a proper kiss scene.. :(
They had a kiss. It was just blurred...but I have no idea why people have such a big problem with that. It's all just acting whether the actors kiss for real or if they do a fake kiss and it gets blurred out. It doesn't make the characters love each other any more or less.

Title The Long Ballad Spoiler
I wouldn't necessarily deem it bromance/platonic. I think their love is much more mature, and more endearing than…
It's not a bromance or a platonic relationship. A platonic relationship is strictly a friendship one. You can't use words like that with relationships where people go on dates, fall in love, kiss, and get married...which is exactly what happens between Sun and Changge. As you say, they just have a more mature relationship, and a much healthier one where they share the same world views, and really understand and respect one another without overstepping each other's boundaries. I love that they they can have proper conversations and are willing to learn from one another.

Title The Long Ballad Spoiler
I love this series, but I don't technically consider it a romance. It has the feel of a bromance, but the leads…
Their romance is a more mature kind that's based on mutual understanding, admiration, and respect. It's definitely not just a platonic/bromance 'cos people in those types of relationships don't fall in love and get married. I have no idea why people keep claiming that. Just because they have a healthy and respectful relationship, and not the typical toxic one where the ML is being a prick and pushing himself onto the FL both emotionally and sexually whether she wants it or not, doesn't make their relationship platonic.

Lin Yiyang from AASOL is also a traumatized, stiff, cold character. You watched the same type of character as Ling Buyi, then complain. Wow. Again, no understanding of character. And, yeah, nobody cares if you don't want to watch him. Go away. He'll continue winning acting awards whether you watch him or not. Hopefully this means that you won't be coming around anymore with your ill-intentions of hating.

is he not filming anything new? where do you guys found updates on his works?
When you asked this question, he just finished filming a box office movie. He has only been filming big box office movies the past year and a half(aside from NorthWest Years, which is a government project). He worked on three movies: "Decent Things", "Donji Island", and "The Decisive Moment". Right around the Chinese New Years, I think he said in his interview that this year will prob see him work on 1 new drama and 1 new box office movie. It's unclear yet what projects those will be. If you only keep up with dramas, then it has been rare to see him the past year.

Well, I personally think he's only getting more and more handsome as he is physically maturing. His Ashile Sun styling was amazing though, no joke. Would love to see a version of him, at his current age, in that getup. IMO, he's always attractive, and I will happily have him all to myself. Thank you :)

Because his entire family was killed by unknown persons, this is what he is investigating in the opening scenes…
LBY is supposed to be a super stiff, awkward character. He's not supposed to be good around people or even considered "normal". He's a general who scares everyone, a character who has spent his entire life seeking revenge and training armies, and only knows the military life. I mean, did you not see what he did with Shao Shang's entire family, how scared they were of him, or how awkward things were when he came to visit? I don't think you understand the concept of character. And if anyone has watched Wu Lei act from a young age, he's an incredibly versatile actor who can be extremely down to earth and natural in his acting, all just depending on the character that he's playing. He's been winning acting awards since he was child. Ever seen Upcoming Summer? My Country, My Parents? Crossfire? Nothing But You? Tomb of the Sea? Our Times? Or Fights Break Sphere? He's way more natural in all of these, because he's not playing some big, scary, awkward general character. At the end of the day, if you already have your mind made up about hating his acting, then just don't watch him. Go watch actors that you enjoy. We don't all love the same actors. Like, why are you pretending to ask about his character(why he always looks so angry) when your intention was just to complain and bash his acting? You don't even truly care about why he is the way that he is. People are trying to explain his character to you and you are being completely dismissive. Why even ask in the first place? The director loves him. They've collaborated in other projects since LLTG, the latest being a box office movie called Dongji Island. If he's the horrible actor that you're claiming that he is then no director would want to be working with him over and over.

Ashile sun origin from tang, i think it's not good, he would better have remained turk even tho he was not biological…
His origin from Tang doesn't change his views on Ashile Tribe or really even play into the plot. At one point, he actually tells Changge that he would never betray Ashile Tribe or Great Khan. And I love that Changge totally understands his sense of loyalty to his people. She herself is that way towards Tang. What's so great about the GeSun CP is their sense of understanding in each other because they're two people cut from the same cloth.

Despite all the bad reviews, I watched this for Wu Lei. Since the drama seems to be a student project, it is understandable…
The ending, despite being tragic, made perfect sense. Agree whole-heartedly. It was fitting when you consider everything that An Tingfeng did. He's so manipulative, and everyone suffered so much for his selfish re-do. He deserved to live all alone in misery. I loved the OST as well, and yes, FL was really cute. Also thought that she and Wu Lei had great chemistry. Would love to see Wu Lei and Song Zuer reunite in a future project with much more mature characters now that they're older.

That's unfortunate. I loved the chemistry between Wu Lei and Song Zuer. The cute interactions between them and finding out what happens in their relationship were some of the reasons I kept watching. I hope they reunite again in another drama. I'm also not sure why you think she lacked in her role. She did a fantastic job in her role as the wolf tribe Princess/tomboy Baili Hongyi. What was lacking about her acting? She did exactly as she was supposed to be: headstrong, harsh, and aggressive on the outside, but warm and caring on the inside.

Money over health? She's not a broke person who has to work a crappy 9-5 job to survive. She's a rich celebrity with millions. Surely she can afford to take a little bit of some extra time to heal and prioritize her health if it's truly important to her. Sorry to say, but her story isn't adding up somewhere.
