Liu Shishi is such a beautiful and amazing actress. This series could have been so much than than what it was had the right pairs got together. I think the audience (me at least) was really hoping she would finally come to terms with her true feelings, because each time they had their moment together the chemistry was excellent...alas we were left hanging.
Then there was the whole second half of the serie, was such a let down, the plot drifted from its core. Then all the stuff she went through, it just didn’t seem necessary and I didn’t feel like it added any depth to the story. Especially when in the first half they portray her as a smart, determined, and willful woman, which I think the first half YX would have fought back or at least wouldn’t have stuck around for the abuse. So it was disappointing to see they had soften her character later in the story.
TLDR 1st half series good 2nd half frustrating Ending - Neutral. Had the writers given the viewers a little more, it could have gotten a higher rating I think.
This show started off so well (except maid drama) then it went no where fast. Seems like the writers didn't know which direction to take it.
There were just too many pointless dragged out scenes that just wasn't needed.
If they would have just focus on either the war or CQ character development, they could have moved the show along at a better pace. But instead, they just introduced so many sub plots that didn't go anywhere and distracted from the main plots.
Examples:
the mustache guy that betrayed YX dad. -pointless
Leader of the afterlife camp -pointless
Princess of liang -pointless
Chun'er sub plot too dragged out.
CQ - background swept under the rug.
All of these things just wasted a lot of screen time, in the end didn't anything for the overall plot of the show.
The acting by the casts was superb, otherwise I would have dropped it a long time ago.
It would have just been better had they dumped all those sub plots and focused on her as a slave and her rise to where she is today.
I just watched this today; (mostly because I don't have any historical c-drama to watch at the moment) thinking it was a traditional western action film. I didn't even look at who was in it. Surprise to see such a huge roster of Chinese actors.
The story lacked a little depth but the cinematography as well as the acting was excellent. Definitely worth a watch.
gahhhh it sucks that Hunan TV is only airing two episodes per day for only four days a week instead of daily episodes…
I know huh? I'm a binge watcher, ususally I wait til the series is done so I don't have to wait for each ep/sub. But I've waiting for this one for so long and the hype is too strong that I couldn't resist. And it's ZLY after all hehe.
This show started off so well; by episode 16 it's getting out of hand with all the love triangles going on, my god. There's just too much of it, it's killing the show...
That's up to you; for me I personally have been enjoying this show. There are no other shows right now that interest me; so it's a good gap filler.
I'm really anticipating Princess Agents, just hope it doesn't take too long to get a sub team to pick it up.
Gosh! I dislike to watch nezar!!! Help!!! Almost stop watching cause of her!
i honestly like Nez, not sure why people don't like her. I saw her in classic mountain and I sea as well and I liked her there too. The person I find stiff is Angela Baby, tried watching general and I and couldn't get into it. But I guess everyone has their own taste...
