I've checked nielsen ratings few times over the years and noticed that youth and coming of age dramas are pretty underwatched in south Korea. seems like knetz mostly tune in for family/makjang dramas which are mostly aired in weekend slot targeting the middle aged people because mostly it's the time of the week they're free for entertainment. So I don't think it's the age of the actors but definitely the genre.

it's not a continuation of S1. S1 wasn't adapted from chapter 1 but it was adapted from the middle (ch 26-37) even the director clarified it in an interview. this season will start from chapter 38 onwards.

nope quite the opposite. romcoms and makjang family dramas are mostly watched in south Korea

That kind of logic is non-existent in kdramas, it's plausible for actors in early 30's to mid 30's playing young adult characters to the very least and that has been a thing in kdramland for a while now jung hae in and yim si wan playing high schoolers.

young adults come under coming of age category as well where they puruse their career and emotional growth for example ( park Bo Young's recent drama Melo movie).
