They have the same father but different mothers. Xu Feng is the Empress' son.
I remember in the book that Ren Yu said his mother was killed by someone because his father abandoned her. The tv show is going to fill in that detail to give him more backstory.
Agreed! I'm at ep 21 and the silliness of some of the scenes is hysterical and frustrating simultaneously. I'm…
what a horrible, draggy plot! i've powered through any number of mediocre shows, but just couldn't make myself keep watching this drama. such a shame when there are so many good actors in it.
Isn't her father the guy that got married in the beginning? ( don't remember his name)
yes her father married the Wind Goddess in the opening scene, even though he was in love with the Flower Goddess (her mother). In the book, both the Heavenly Emperor and the Wind God love the Flower Goddess.
I don't like the sipnosis from Wikipedia.. It states that JM will sacrifice herself for the nation.. IS THE SIPNOSIS…
In the book, she sacrifices herself to save the heavenly and demon worlds from going to war and to prevent Night and Phoenix from fighting each other. However, this isn't the end of the book. They have a happy reunion in the end and start a family. Additionally, there is an epilogue where they go to the mortal world and find each other.
I have to say, I wonder if YangZi really loves eating ? In many of her characters, she loves to eat. So adorable.…
I think she loves eating because she misses it! Yang Zi got a lot of criticism for her role in Noble Aspirations for not being attractive enough. She's been trying to diet and lose weight to get her cheeks slimmer. During one of her interviews (I can't remember which one), she complains about Deng Lun always eating yummy food around her when she can't have any.
Unfortunately, there's a lot of pressure on Chinese actors and actresses to look like stick figures. For some reason, they think it's attractive when a girl's upper thighs are the same thickness as their calves. Zhao Liying (Zanilia) has also spoken about getting pressured to lose weight. Elvis Han has also spoken extensively about his exercise regimen and eating light to maintain his lean, muscular physique.
I love how Phoenix is like ha she's in awe at how awesome he is, but in reality she's just being her own naive…
ikr! I love the scene where he's trying to show off his trophies to impress her. Yang Zi's face is twitching in fear while he's preening like a peacock.
First 2 episodes in and I love it already. It’s really good and mostly funny, I really liked the part where…
Episodes 3 & 4 are also funny. At one point JM says says to XF that she seems to be gaining a lot of weight, but only in one area of her body. Her cluelessness is hilarious.
There have been comments about how the show deviates from the book. I watched the show's press junket interview where they introduced the show and the cast. The reason they changed things from the book is that the Jing Mi character as written in the book appears really heartless and unlikeable when acted out. Since the book is written from her POV, we get to know her and understand her naivete and thought process. However, Yang Zi can't do a running voice over for the entire show. So they re-wrote parts of the book to make her less mercenary. For instance, the Unfeeling Pill only prevents her from understanding/feeling Romantic Love, but still allows her to have feelings of friendship and familial love. In the book she's constantly asking for lingli so she can attain immortal status, which can come across as greedy. So in the show they gave her a back story for why she is asking for lingli.
It's too easy to look for the negatives since this has been hyped up for so long and we all are expecting it to…
Finished ep2 and agree Xu Feng is not at all moody or dark in the beginning of the book. He has a combination of arrogance and privilege that you'd expect from a prince warrior who is undefeated in battle. I'd always interpreted Night as a lonely and hurt little boy who was searching desperately for the love that he never got from his mother or father. The interactions between the two leads are so funny and cute! I'm interested in seeing how they develop and flesh out the side characters.
Not historically accurate. Also, look for Easter eggs. There are several references in the form of musical score to major hit xian xia/wu xia/historical romance shows.
