I agree that something was off in the chemistry between the OTP. Yang Mi and Ethan just didn't have that sexual tension that she had with Mark. I can't think of a single scene where Yang Mi looked at her man like she had butterflies in her stomach.

I love Ethan in this drama as well! I've watched him in Monga and Love, but love this playful, charming side of him. His acting is superb... and he's hot af!

I haven't finished the show yet. Started loosing steam around ep 40 and have slowly made it to 56. Mostly by skipping scenes that were draggy. It sounds like I can jump straight to 65...

I totally agree with you. The story about developing friendship/love is so sweet, but the ending was too contrived and sad. I prefer With You over A Love So Beautiful because I enjoyed the way the characters interacted with each other.

Watching the eps when they are in the human world, I don't think they will go there twice to fall in love again. I think it'll just be the one time. Actually, I think moving it to earlier in their relationship works pretty well. It allows JM and XF to develop romantic feelings for each other. In the book, it's really not clear what it is about JM that makes XF fall in love with such an insensitive blockhead.

There's a lot more humor in this show than Lost Love in Times. The part where JM and XF go to the mortal world definitely feels similar to Lost Love in Times. But shes' not nearly as powerful or smart.

JM's mother (former Flower Goddess) was originally in love with the Heavenly Emperor when he was still only a prince. However, he broke her heart by marrying the current Heavenly Empress in order to make an alliance with the Bird Clan and solidify his political power. JM's mother grew up with the Water God (and Wind God). The Water God healed her broken heart and she eventually fell in love with him. Some of this is from the show and some from the book.

22 episodes so far and it doesn't feel draggy at all. The show is longer than the book because they incorporated the epilogues and provided back stories for some of the minor characters. JM and XF are so cute together!
