So true, and the highest rated are only that high because people ship the couple, not because it's a good script or plot. I mean, look at the atrocious and monstrous Boss & Babe.

Maybe there is something wrong with me, but I don't even think this show is worth more than a 7.5. It's okay, but so melodramatic and most of the issues don't even get resolved. Yes, they love each other, but lack of communication will destroy the relationship. Being broody and being emotional is not saying anything, is not communication and not a good foundation for a relationship. Is he going to act like that when they have the next crisis in their relationship? Did he tell his boyfriend that he is on meds?

It wouldn't have hurt the producers to not show us those scenes. It seems like in some cultures (Korean/Thai dramas) it's mandatory to forgive each other and talk about it. In a Jdrama or Jmovie they just move on without ever talking about it. Maybe it's the style of story telling and the number of episodes. Perhaps that's why I like Japanese dramas less fake scenarios and time-wasting scenes. I mean, why would you call him a prize, he's a person that just doesn't love you anymore, plus his friend was fake and rude and always brought out his wealth all the time. He didn't even know that he didn't like talking about it but calls himself a friend. So fake.

Haha, what an HR nightmare this would be in real life. The ML's funny expressions didn't help matters in this drama and the other ML acted so dumb to be a CEO. I couldn't tell if he was trying to be a tsundere character because he never quite succeeds in doing so.

This drama deserves a higher rating. Seriously one of the better BLs that I have watched and I'm a harsh critic. I laughed and smiled so much. Neo was so hilarious in this one. Liked the Mork/Pi combination in this one more than in Never Let Me Go (it's sexier but the story is weak). This story was just perfect and not annoying like most school BL dramas.

I hate myself for having watched this garbage drama. I hate the way the women were tools for the man. I understand it's a sign of the times but doesn't make me feel better.

Maybe there is no need for you, we watch movies/shows for different reasons. The way we consume media is different as well. I mentally compare each and every thing I watch especially if I have high expectations of it and there is something similar to it.Each to his own.

Dear Tenant and Eternal Yesterday actually came to my mind when watching the Egoist. But both DT and EY were very persuasive in their execution and emotional story-telling in my opinion. They all revolve around love,death and unintentional family, learning to say goodbye to those who have left, some unresolved grief.

DT and Egoist share the same themes of love,death and unintentional family bond that involved the mother of the partner. Though DT has wider family dynamic issues (uncle,child of partner etc). Both partners pass away and the other partner becomes a sort of replacement son for the mother-in-law (for the lack of a better word) with differing degrees of sadness and success. Both bonds are formed either by guilt or kinship for the shared dead partner of the mother. At the heart of both stories is the concept of family & the question of what is family?.

Haha, I would have to say the way Ryohei crossed his legs and sat on the couch and tried to be affectionate just came off as stiff and forced IMO. He wasn't bad, but he wasn't that convincing to me either.

Yeah that's what I meant by "slow torture", most of the decisions she made defy logic and reason. That's also why I say, maybe the drama is a victim of it's time. I have seen Taiwanese & Chinese dramas seem to have more of this type of FL who is so self-sacrificing to the point of stupidity.

Mia also does the same though, I think the FL does live with her ex for a while. The only difference is she made a decision not to involve herself in the life of her cousin who cheated with her husband. She was kind and understanding but maintained her boundaries and distance and never allowed her near her child or her ever again.

In FW, she allows them to live with her (hubby+mistress-cousin) and only comes to her senses when she tries to harm her child.Even the way she was too nice to her ex, he gave her divorce papers while she was in hospital yet she was confused about a back-stabbing man like that.They also seem to attribute the cheating to mental illness for the cousin but do nothing to explain why the husband did it. Her husband was sniveling immature person and she seemed to enable his behavior. That's why I was shocked that 4 years after divorce she was still confused about a man who never put in effort in their relationship. Let me stop, i can feel myself becoming angry at this writer.

The screenwriter Yang Hai WeiI, think I saw somewhere that he is a guy, which explains a lot.

I don't think she was still in love with her husband. It looked like she was doing everything for her daughter. She was confused because her daughter didn't like the 2ML.Her child was holding her back and she put her own happiness above everyone else.

My only problem with her is her lack of boundaries and indecision. She let her ex-husband come and determine the path of her life. He meddled in her life & she just let him.She was just waiting for something and its not clear what she was waiting for. But I agree that this was even more ridiculous than the whole series, like it's four years later what is she still waiting for.

They are very similar but also different in a few ways especially because the other one is older (FW) and Mia a bit recent in the way it portrays women. The FL in FW will frustrate you with her indecision and noble idiocy tendencies. The other frustrating thing is FW's ending is open -ended (series) and there is a movie that's supposed to be the final ending and it's equally frustrating & silly(you can check my comments on the Movie page). I think the movie is on YouTube.On the whole FW is made to be pure emotional torture and will make you angry for the longest time because it keeps on going,everything is stretched out.I was angry for two days after watching it. Mia felt faster paced to me and FL tried to have some boundaries and had less indecision. I'm not a fan of female characters that are too weak or too nice, but yeah it's almost the same ending.In fact should have called it the weak wife because she was always confused.The decision is up to you if you can take torture or not lol.

I can safely say Dear Tenant is still my top favorite movie of the same genre. I thought The Egoist was going to take the prize for sure but it just wasn't as deep as I thought it would be. I am a sucker for philosophical and hidden messages in movies. I got this one, but it was not as emotional as Dear Tenant. It was kind of average, for me even the love story was somewhat unremarkable.Was it real love or transactional love?. At times I found Suzuki Ryohei's mannerisms a little too much and are stereotypical of "gay editors.His hands moved but his body looked stiff.

Okay, that's one way of looking at it but I think Thailand has some of the hottest looking MLs that are very manly and I just would not have cast that guy in that role. Today's actors are very different from the olden days. I can name at least 5 ML that I thought would have given off a better bitter, angry guy revenge type of vibe. Bless his soul Tor is very handsome but he has that flowerboy type of manliness, compare his vibe to KinnPorcshe for example. The actor that I would have cast would be someone like "Film Thanapat Kawila" he pulls off the angry bad guy but gentle as well kind of look or.

I like the first one better, this was so agonizingly slow to watch and didn't have much of story.I cant believe Yihwa would actually be confused over such a simple choice.
