Could you please, briefly give me an idea of how you see Egoist and Dear Tenant as being of the "same genre?"…
Dear Tenant and Eternal Yesterday actually came to my mind when watching the Egoist. But both DT and EY were very persuasive in their execution and emotional story-telling in my opinion. They all revolve around love, death and unintentional family, learning to say goodbye to those who have left, some unresolved grief.
DT and Egoist share the same themes of love, death and unintentional family bond that involved the mother of the partner. Though DT has wider family dynamic issues (uncle, child of partner etc). Both partners pass away and the other partner becomes a sort of replacement son for the mother-in-law (for the lack of a better word) with differing degrees of sadness and success. Both bonds are formed either by guilt or kinship for the shared dead partner of the mother. At the heart of both stories is the concept of family & the question of what is family?.
Haha, I would have to say the way Ryohei crossed his legs and sat on the couch and tried to be affectionate just came off as stiff and forced IMO. He wasn't bad, but he wasn't that convincing to me either.
It's an okay movie but it failed to move me the way those other two did.
Can you tell me, if the firece wife is worth watching? Does it have the same ending? Thank you!
Yeah that's what I meant by "slow torture", most of the decisions she made defy logic and reason. That's also why I say, maybe the drama is a victim of it's time. I have seen Taiwanese & Chinese dramas seem to have more of this type of FL who is so self-sacrificing to the point of stupidity.
Mia also does the same though, I think the FL does live with her ex for a while. The only difference is she made a decision not to involve herself in the life of her cousin who cheated with her husband. She was kind and understanding but maintained her boundaries and distance and never allowed her near her child or her ever again.
In FW, she allows them to live with her (hubby+mistress-cousin) and only comes to her senses when she tries to harm her child.Even the way she was too nice to her ex, he gave her divorce papers while she was in hospital yet she was confused about a back-stabbing man like that. They also seem to attribute the cheating to mental illness for the cousin but do nothing to explain why the husband did it. Her husband was sniveling immature person and she seemed to enable his behavior. That's why I was shocked that 4 years after divorce she was still confused about a man who never put in effort in their relationship. Let me stop, i can feel myself becoming angry at this writer.
The screenwriter Yang Hai WeiI, think I saw somewhere that he is a guy, which explains a lot.
Soooooo the FL ditched the 2ML at the altar (registrar office) because subconsciously she's still in love with…
I don't think she was still in love with her husband. It looked like she was doing everything for her daughter. She was confused because her daughter didn't like the 2ML.Her child was holding her back and she put her own happiness above everyone else.
My only problem with her is her lack of boundaries and indecision. She let her ex-husband come and determine the path of her life. He meddled in her life & she just let him.She was just waiting for something and its not clear what she was waiting for. But I agree that this was even more ridiculous than the whole series, like it's four years later what is she still waiting for.
Can you tell me, if the firece wife is worth watching? Does it have the same ending? Thank you!
They are very similar but also different in a few ways especially because the other one is older (FW) and Mia a bit recent in the way it portrays women. The FL in FW will frustrate you with her indecision and noble idiocy tendencies. The other frustrating thing is FW's ending is open -ended (series) and there is a movie that's supposed to be the final ending and it's equally frustrating & silly(you can check my comments on the Movie page). I think the movie is on YouTube. On the whole FW is made to be pure emotional torture and will make you angry for the longest time because it keeps on going, everything is stretched out.I was angry for two days after watching it. Mia felt faster paced to me and FL tried to have some boundaries and had less indecision. I'm not a fan of female characters that are too weak or too nice, but yeah it's almost the same ending. In fact should have called it the weak wife because she was always confused. The decision is up to you if you can take torture or not lol.
I can safely say Dear Tenant is still my top favorite movie of the same genre. I thought The Egoist was going to take the prize for sure but it just wasn't as deep as I thought it would be. I am a sucker for philosophical and hidden messages in movies. I got this one, but it was not as emotional as Dear Tenant. It was kind of average, for me even the love story was somewhat unremarkable. Was it real love or transactional love?. At times I found Suzuki Ryohei's mannerisms a little too much and are stereotypical of "gay editors. His hands moved but his body looked stiff.
I would have agreed with you, if I had not seen the 1992 and the 2007 version. 1992 was good, but 2007.....THAT…
Okay, that's one way of looking at it but I think Thailand has some of the hottest looking MLs that are very manly and I just would not have cast that guy in that role. Today's actors are very different from the olden days. I can name at least 5 ML that I thought would have given off a better bitter, angry guy revenge type of vibe. Bless his soul Tor is very handsome but he has that flowerboy type of manliness, compare his vibe to KinnPorcshe for example. The actor that I would have cast would be someone like "Film Thanapat Kawila" he pulls off the angry bad guy but gentle as well kind of look or.
I like the first one better, this was so agonizingly slow to watch and didn't have much of story.I cant believe Yihwa would actually be confused over such a simple choice.
WOW.. amazing talent..You basically insulted the same woman (as cheaply as i could not even imagine), while using…
If my opinion doesn't matter then why do you keep replying to my posts from a month ago, you clever and intelligent person. Leave me and my dumb beliefs alone.I will not be told by you or anyone how to think or how my opinion should be.You can call me names or try to bully me but that doesn't change anything to me. You are the weird one for not facing the fact that KSH is not every man and not every man is KSH. I don't have to believe him or his version of events. I will fiercely protect my opinion from trolls and bullies like you who can't believe the world doesn't revolve around your bias.
“The men are always the innocent ones, whereas the ex's that are women are super vindictive” I’m sorry,…
All of them what??? 🤣😆 you so incoherent. Funny troll, you need to be a certain level of delulu and crazy to try and prevent other people from having an opinion on the internet. You don't control the whole of Mydramalist or the whole of the internet. You are the toxic one for telling me i have a disturbing point of view just because i choose not to believe a guy you don't even personally know.
Get that into your thick skull & let me repeat I don't believe KSH, i believe his ex-girlfriend. KSH is not all men he is one guy that I don't believe if that makes me a men hater then so be it and if it makes you happy that's fine with me too.You just seem like a weird fan who can't fully grasp the fact that other people can see through the PR stunt to salvage his reputation. I will not change my mind just because you chose to smear and name-call me. Be mature, in the world not everyone has the same opinion and that's okay.
I never forced you to see things from my side, I merely stated my opinion and that got you raving mad. You don't control any narrative and I can read and write and understand stuff for myself, so even if I belong to the other side I think it's time you mind your own business. Support your bias while I hold on to my views, calling me stupid or lacking intellect does nothing to change my opinion but reinforces my beliefs.
WOW.. amazing talent..You basically insulted the same woman (as cheaply as i could not even imagine), while using…
You probably need to take that pill because it took you 12 days to come up with this reply ( really haha). So much for common intelligence , you simply repeat yourself like a broken record.Saying nothing but showing your otherwise dumbo logic. I'm so disappointed at both your basic and superior logic.
It's better to be stupid like me, than come up with nothing while pretending to use a so-called brain.
things that i would have loved to be discussed.1..FL's relationship with her mum and dad. Does amnesia mean that…
Amnesia doesn't change someone's character and she was pretty ambitious before as a teenager. More ambitious than the guy actually. So turning her into a docile, weak person seemed like just an overused plot device. I would have liked to see her still have dreams, even if they were different dreams but she was stuck with middle-aged men working as a taxi- driver and just miserable until the guy showed up. Which is not true or realistic.
The writer made it seem like her dreams were linked to her memory which is not true. She spoke up against her mother-in-law and got a divorce. That shows she had some spirit or spunk in her. She was actually stronger than her mum as well, so I don't get it at the end of the day. The writer tried very hard to keep the FL both infantile, innocent and stupid which contradicts with her earlier life and character and the story itself.
It's high time that script writers write better female characters, not victims of circumstances or plot devices.
“The men are always the innocent ones, whereas the ex's that are women are super vindictive” I’m sorry,…
Let me help you....The argument you presented contains several elements that can be identified as problematic. Let's break it down:
Personal attacks: The statement "given your level of stupidity" is a personal attack and does not contribute to a productive discussion. Engaging in ad hominem attacks undermines the quality of the argument and distracts from the main points being made.
Mischaracterization of the opposing position: You claim that my position is "neither objective nor based on anything except because you want to beat your anti-men agenda." However, you provide no evidence or specific examples to support this assertion. It is important to address the specific arguments and evidence put forth by the other person rather than making generalized accusations.
Ad hominem accusation: You argue that my position is based solely on their "hatred for men." However, without examining the specific arguments and evidence presented by the other person, it is unfair and unjustified to assume that my position is motivated by personal bias.
Lack of evidence: You assert that my position is not based on anything substantial, but you fail to provide any evidence or reasoning to support this claim. It is essential to present concrete evidence, logical reasoning, or reliable sources (not Dispatch) to support your assertions and engage in a constructive debate.
Inconsistency in blame game accusation: You accuse me of starting a blame game while simultaneously asserting that they are doing the very thing they accused others of. This creates confusion and undermines the coherence of your argument.
WOW.. amazing talent..You basically insulted the same woman (as cheaply as i could not even imagine), while using…
Apply some of that genius reasoning and logic to your own argument and stop generalizing and putting words into my mouth. I believe her version of events and not because she is a woman. Nowhere did i say i hate men, I'm surprised an intelligent person like you made that conclusion based on some assumption that if you don't believe KSH or Dispatch then you hate men. (Hahaha)
You are the one that needs to grow-up and stop the "ad hominem" pseudo-logical reasoning. Your rhetorical strategy where you attack the character, motive, and other attributes of the people who have a different opinion from you rather than attacking the substance of the argument itself is laughable and shows whose really dumb at the end of the day.Name calling, illogical arguments, assumptions and you call other people dumb. (Really)
“The men are always the innocent ones, whereas the ex's that are women are super vindictive” I’m sorry,…
Einstein, you talk about logic but use a "ad hominem" logical fallacy to try and prove nothing. By the way i already have an opinion and i don't need your approval or permission to have it. Extend the courtesy to someone that actually cares about your opinion because i don't.
Objective view over what? KSH already admitted to the relationship and baby so whats there to be objective about.Love or Hate his ex-girlfriend that doesn't make him innocent or change the facts.
