Too much subplots and stalling. Plus I find no appeal in multiple love interest. There’s an interesting idea but it got lost somewhere along the 3rd episode.
This has all the cliche troupes in fantasy dramas. Aside from transmigration and time reversal. Fun while it lasted and finally writers are willing to kill off characters.
Originally had a bias against this because they had a "prettier" actress take place but turns out it wasn't just to replace but to tell a story. It's definitely got potential, and I really enjoy every episode. I almost didn't wake up in time for my morning shift because I stayed up late binging to this drama. FML lowkey strange but who isn't? It's been a long time since I've seen female leads so cringe yet true. Like when she fractured her leg on the stairs. Truly strange sight to see.
It may be cringe but Im down bad for Nagatsuma Reo. Honestly his opposite partner doesn’t really convince me he’s a top and an experienced bedding man. But Reo is so handsome and charming. It wasn’t even that bad. I find that their soft spoken cringe is a lot better than thai ver’s cringe. I’ve fought countless cringing battles, fight me. Ive been through SCOY and back, I’m scared of no one.
Just watched the last 8 episodes I never finished and im so drained emotionally and physically. Lets just kill of some characters to simplify the complications. My head hurts with so many things happening all at once. I loved it but man am I a hater towards these characters. One hurts me emotionally, one drains me, one makes my head hurt, one makes my blood boil. Just take all of me, I’m already dead in one attack
Slight Rant on Bai Feng's characterization. She's our typical antagonist down to the bare drive of why she turned evil: all for a man. It was such an idiotic addition to the story. There were ways to make her more 3D and carved out but apparently the writers think it's enough to simply have everything explained using her obsession with the ML. You can't simply just create a character who was obsessive on the get-go without giving reasons as to why she turned out the way she did. No background explanation other than the ML's companion (and she was somehow vicious back then too). First thing's first: there should be more than just her obsession. driving her to hate FML and make all of these choices. She's not only irrationally making choices, but also have no other motivation other than the deeply embedded jealousy. She's forced to be the antagonist with no redeeming traits like why she is the way she is or what makes the ML so shiny. Not a simple "he grew up with me and we depended on each other". What makes him worth the trouble? There's no way that they were shouldering that much pain growing up because Lu Li was gentle and naive which means unless Bai Feng grew up from the depths of hell itself, she couldn't have possibly developed such vicious nature.
To summarize: 2D, only drive was obsession which in-turn developed into a sense of greed for power, basically 0 context as to why she was so vicious, and sort of forced to be an evil immature/jealous person without any justification.
She's basically made to further the female lead's love, sacrifice for the male lead, give them trouble and suddenly they die because of their love for the male lead. It was too annoying for me to watch cause it was just so unbelievable they actually still had a character like this. I thought writers were past these brainless characters since 2015 but I guess big productions like these are about following trends and not actually caring about how their characters bring meaning and impact to the story.
Most of these dramas are created for China Prime Time, and are targeted at families, and the middle school to…
Okay now that is generalizing. China has a large population which means each province has its own culture. Not only China holds those views as well. All around the world, it has been very unfriendly towards woman.
On another note, I do agree that the FL character build sucks. She’s somehow strong, intelligent but then her IQ dips when scene calls for some angst stuff. Not to mention Bai Feng being the classic annoying cockroach who doesn’t die despite warranting death multiple times. Her face annoyed me so much but I can’t complain at how good the actress makes my blood boil. Females are type casted into the classic maiden angel or twisted jealous white lotus. Im fed up
Why is the MDL rating so low? I’m in episode 25 and am loving this drama, love the story. Bin Bin looks absolutely…
Trigger warning because I’m getting quite frank. I believe its because the story flow isn’t consistent and lack in different areas. Its just another xianxia drama with the typical troupes. The same character set ups regarding antagonist, female lead, male lead, story lines (plural because they smashed a bunch of ideas together with glue). Basically, its just another white shirt. Not to say that it’s bad, it just doesn’t have much unique elements to it. I can guess where things are going everytime a new plot rolls around which means script has been replayed too many times, I can find the ending before it ends. Whoever has been voting, they may have been a veteran or someone who have watched various dramas which would explain its low score.
I was so into it that when I watched ep 11 in public…I cringed so badly that I couldnt finish it within 8 hours outside…I had to get home and then watch it…
