I don't condone the actions and definitely confused on why the second couple ended up together but I was really moved by Ye Xingsi's story and struggle

I will just pretend that Ming didnt die but actually switched places with the ming from the FL’s timeline. To when she is able tro rewrite the FL’s tragic ending as well. So the one that died was the bad ming, our lovely Ming must be doing alright. As for the duke, he’s a scum so that sucks

If we make the older brother a girl, would it make more sense? She has to raise her sister so she joins a gang. Then she meets a boy and same thing happens, she takes him home and gives him a family. They grow up and the boy has feelings for her ever since he realized how much she sacrificed for him. He doesnt want to destroy the family so he doesnt speak but when she seems to have a boyfriend, he couldnt hide it anymore and confessed. Older girl then sends boy abroad because she knows he deserves better. Then boy comes back from studying abroad and he starts to seduce her. She's confused but doesnt act on it until she's diagnosed with a life threatening disease. She felt like life is too short so she gives in to him and they are now a couple.
