again it was Xie Wei who made sure that minister of justice will hear her case and will actually stand against the Empress, he just happens to be there without Xie Wei forcing the boss ZZ won't even go there. I don't hate/dislike the guy but we should give credit where its due.
He will help her in next episode to meet the Yan Mu and that's where he deserves every ounce credit.

How did her saved her?
It was Xie Wei pulling the strings of everybody today with Emperor backing.

Today's episode was very good but Empress Dowager is very dumb woman, if the troops rebelled and border troops learned you killed their master. What will they do?
Rebel and who will benefit from it.....Lord Pingan and rebels.
I am amazed how she can't put the two together in her mind, whats the use of Xue family and her idiot son sitting on the throne. If troops outside the capital don't even recognize your rule.....historically dumb woman like her has destroyed dynasties and lead to violence throughout the world.
The perfect example of that would be "Three Kingdoms" period, there were Emperors, but nobody respected them and Warlord had their own Kingdoms.

No in novel it shows, it was not him that did this and infact all the shit was done by Gao Yi.

You may be right but it did have a lot of similarities with Three kingdom like the "Li" royal family to which ML belongs, ruled in Han dynasty, but then again architecture is from Song era.
I like the destined storyline and romance better as compared to this one.

After that, Fl can report him and he can go to jail for fraud and laundering company asset.

It was not the ML, that spread the news it was Zhang Zeshan or Gao Yi but we know for a fact. It was not ML !

I will give credit where its due,
Those assassins did set a good ambush and those heavy siege crossbows were a nice touch and its quiet rare to see those things in action. The ambush scene was choregraphed perfectly with minor mistakes like accuracy on those "bad boys" is very good and they will not miss at that range, so I don't know how soldiers were dogging those.
It was also good to see armour in action and used perfectly cuz in majority of Chinese drama's its treated more like a fashion accessory but here it did its job and stopped swords and spears from going all the way through. ML also displayed his tactical awareness but what a "Trash" father he has. It would have been better for him, if he died there and now I really hope young-crown-prince son survives and becomes Emperor.....otherwise ML trash family will enjoy the fruits of his hard-work.

That being said again, can any novel reader confirm that, is the drama set in "Three Kingdom" period?

or they actually fall in love and have romantic moments between them?

I think he is more of freaking afraid as compared to jealous, he is afraid she will leak his secret to her lover and hence is going after her.

Damnn that scene with Lord Yan and ML was very intense and I am happy both leads have their separate lives and objectives, they are not dependent upon eachother and love is not forced upon us.
The current speed of the relationship progression between the leads feels and looks kinda natural and her romantic entanglement with Zhang Ze is also looks normal, I hope they dampen the upcoming angst from the ill-fated relationship between the Zhang and FL with some good political scheming and fighting.
Its just my opinion but Zhang boy and FL are not made for eachother cuz former believes in absolute supremacy of law, while FL is scheming mastermind. If they have romantic relationship Zhang will try to change her nature against her will and this lead to problems and final breakup. FL is on a mission right now and Zhang can walk alongside her in this.....hence breakup !

I don't think ML is jealous right now, he looks more like AFRAID for his life cuz he suspects, she may leak his secrets to her lover detective and get him killed for it. FL has such a powerful weapon on his head, I am amazed why is she not using it.
Granted he can kill her but its not that easy to kill "minister daughter" in the palace.
