FL asked for divorce and ML was stalling, in these situations the "Lady of the house" ZXW mother in this case (remember FL is called Mistress) has the power to issue divorce. ZXW is lord/Judge of the area, so by default he has the power (with one party asking for divorce) to issues "Imperial decrees" and he did that in this case.

I am not against remakes but they will first trim the story to 20 episodes, which will introduce plot holes and make the story in-coherent. Secondly I don't believe in the capability of these actors to pull it off cuz it may look easy but all those people acting was on point in extremely emotional scenes. I have not read the novel but I heard people say it was TML that got her in the end but drama is completely different from novel, for example Lord was Emperor in the novel and ZXW mother was Empress dowager. I really want ZXW to win but that "Sister-in-Law" troupe is bit hard to swallow. FL wants peace in life and is very careful person....yet the idiot out of jealousy after ZXW, decides to pick her up in middle of night and march through the town, towards Zhong residence to get her accused of cheating and sleeping with him. The last thing FL wants and needs is an idiot disturbing her peace and he is literally helping MY by doing this. MY maid killed herself and he didn't stab her or knew that will happen due to his behaviour (bad but not evil), she on the other hand accused him of false rape charges to get him killed. Husband is trying to stop the investigation cuz he knows MY is lying (by looking at her nails) but he can only delay the investigation, sooner or later people will ask the deputy Wu and after that.....MY is done for !
